Both teams have played well this season but Aston Villa have been the most impressive and currency sit in fourth spot in the league table and they won’t want to drop any points at this stage with a Champions League spot up for grabs. Chelsea are down in 9th but they aren’t far off the Europa League spots so there is plenty up for grabs for both teams in this game.

Aston Villa have had a superb season so far and come into this game off the back of two big wins against Arsenal and Bournemouth. They have been playing very creative football all season and they will be full of confidence coming into this fixture. They are a much improved outfit this year and there defensive record is solid whilst scoring plenty. They are ticking all the right boxes this season and will be tough to beat.

Chelsea have had an ok season but they definitely lack attacking options and this has to be a concern for them going forward. They have enough class on the pitch which means they are picking up points but against the better teams they definitely seem to struggle and come into this fixture off the back of a 5-0 defeat to Arsenal. They are going to need to turn that form around if they are to get anything out of this game.

Head to Head

Before I took a look I would have assumed that Chelsea were leading the head to heads but in the last 5 meetings between these two sides, it’s Aston Villa that have won three of them and that only adds to their strong case of winning this game. They have played very creative football over the past two seasons and it is starting to pay off as they now sit in fourth spot. The head to heads point towards the home team here.

The late kick off on Saturday is going to be a really good game there is no doubt about it but when you take a look at the recent form, Aston Villa are the team that tick all the boxes. They are playing well, they lead the head to heads and are higher than Chelsea in the league, but this doesn’t mean they will have it all their own way.

I can’t wait to watch this game on Saturday evening and it promises to be a really good watch. Both teams are capable of putting in a big performance but it’s hard not to be concerned by Chelsea's form after a 5-0 defeat to Arsenal last week and they would need a return to form to get anything out of this game. On the other side of things Aston Villa beat Arsenal a couple of week’s ago and perhaps that tells you the difference in class between Villa and Chelsea at the minute.

I do think Chelsea will score in this game but I expect Aston Villa to cause them real problems and will ultimately be too good. I think the bet here is a 2-1 win to Aston Villa at 8/1 and I think that represents really good value. Chelsea can definitely cause them problems but Aston Villa look a very good team right now  and to me, they take all the beating.
