The Premier League continues this weekend, as the hectic December schedule kicks off with plenty of games for fans to enjoy . For today’s betting tip, we’ll be focusing on the important fixture in the Premier League this weekend between Aston Villa and Leicester City at Villa Park.
Steven Gerrard has had a perfect start to life as Aston Villa manager. Since replacing Dean Smith, the former Rangers boss has led the Villains to two-straight victories. These victories include a home win over Brighton and an away win at Crystal Palace in the last fortnight. With Manchester City midweek and Leicester on Sunday, tougher tests are coming for Gerrard and co.
Aston Villa have a few attacking issues to worry about. Danny Ings is a day-to-day decision as he will probably miss Aston Villa’s clash with City due to a thigh injury. As for Bertrand Traore, his absence is confirmed because of a thigh injury.
Whilst Aston Villa have had a resurgence as of late, Leicester have slumped to a poor run of results. They had three-straight games without a win either side of the international break but that changed last time out. In an action-packed outing, they beat Watford 4-2 to stay cemented in midtable.
As for injuries, they continue to be without Wesley Fofana which has hampered them defensively. Similarly, they are without Ricardo Pereira as he nurses a thigh injury. The defensive problems continue as James Justin is ruled out, whilst Tielemans is currently at a 25% chance to feature.
These two sides have been even over the last couple of years with the two sides splitting results during last season’s encounters. Aston Villa got the better of Brendan Rodgers’ side at the King Power but the Foxes won the reverse fixture at Villa Park so they are hard to separate.
Fortunately for fans, in recent history, the fixture has had plenty of goals. Both teams have scored in three of the last five fixtures against each other and there’s been two goals or more in four of the last five encounters.
This game is difficult to call. Both sides have had momentum swings throughout the season and this is a true test for Steven Gerrard. Therefore, we’re going to suggest that the game will be a draw with both teams scoring. This is available with Befred at 10/3.
