Aston Villa host Manchester City this Saturday afternoon in the Premier League, who will be hoping to be the next team added to the next long list of teams currently beating the champions.
A chaotic few minutes cost Aston Villa at the City Ground last weekend, ending their three match winning streak. Despite their late collapse, Villa remain just three points behind Forest who occupy 4th spot - and their hunt for Champions League football next season remains a real possibility.
At home, they've only lost twice this season - and one of those was against Arsenal - and so Unai Emery's side will believe they can extend their recent unbeaten run at Villa Park to five when the champions come to town.
It's now just one win in 11 matches for Pep Guardiola's Man City - and after a derby day defeat in the final minutes at home last weekend, it's now time to press the panic button - whether Pep is willing to admit that or not.
The lack of organisation and togetherness is bewildering to watch and a trip to Villa Park isn't going to be easy as they look to avoid a third straight defeat in just ten days.
Many feel as though it's a matter of time before Man City are back to their best, but having lost six of their last seven on the road, I'm not that convinced.
Although Man City hammered Aston Villa 4-1 when they last met in April, Guardiola's side haven't enjoyed their recent visits to Villa Park.
The hosts beat the reigning champions 1-0 thanks to Leon Bailey's second half strike last campaign, as well as holding them to a 1-1 draw back in 2022 - and it was that man Bailey who rescued the point in almost the same minute.
Sadly the Jamaican will miss out on this fixture due to injury, but that shouldn't worry Villa too much considering City's current run of form.
So, is there any hope for the visitors? It's hard to completely dismiss their chances, but after the manner of their defeat to arch-rivals Man United last weekend, a few days after a 2-0 defeat in Turin to Juventus, Guardiola is facing his toughest test in his managerial career.
With Man City showing little to no sign that they can bounce back, Aston Villa can continue their quest for a top four spot and replicate last year's victory over the champions once again.
Aston Villa have largely performed well this season. Considering their involvement in the Champions League, Emery's experience has shown as they are competing well in Europe as well as looking to cement a top four place in the Premier League.
They've only lost one in their last 10 at home, beating the likes of Bayern Munich, Bologna and Brentford - and Man City could be about to join that list.
Man City are so reliant on Erling Haaland to score, who's almost got half of their league goals this season. If he doesn't find the back of the net, City struggle. But at the other end of the pitch, Guardiola must be scratching his head with how poor his side have been. This isn't a short term fix, and he'll be desperate to get to the Janaury transfer window to spend big.
Villa's defeat to Nottingham Forest appears to be a blip in a long season, whereas Man City's sole victory in their last 11 matches is incredibly concerning. Villa Park will be rocking on Saturday afternoon and I'm expecting another Unai Emery masterclass.
Keeping it simple, Aston Villa are priced at 11/8 draw no bet and that looks to be a very good price considering how poor Man City have been - especially on the road. Good luck if you're following.
