I'm looking forward to this. These two sides have provided plenty of entertainment at Euro 2024 so far. Another entertaining affair is expected on Tuesday night.
Austria has been excellent. Ralf Rangnick’s side won Group D ahead of France, Holland and Poland. Their style of play is brilliant and a joy to watch. Das Team play an ultra-energetic style and is constantly chasing the ball down. It’s a nightmare for their opponents.
Didier Deschamps’ men beat Austria in the opening round in a hard-fought encounter. Rangnick’s side bounced back and scored three times in victories over Poland and the Netherlands, showing their class throughout.
Austria are organised and work hard for one another. If their impressive performances continue, they can go the distance in Germany.
Vincenzo Montella’s Turkey has been another entertainment side. They’ve recorded 22, 11 and 18 shots in their opening three encounters. Wins over Georgia and the Czech Republic came either side of a defeat to Portugal.
I’m not sure that we can trust Turkey defensively. They gave up five big chances against Georgia, three against Portugal and four against the Czech Republic. Across their three group-stage matches, we’ve seen ten goals. Another entertaining affair is on the cards.
Hakan Calhanoglu will miss this clash. The captain faces a suspension, which is a blow for Turkey. Fenerbahce’s Samet Akaydin won’t feature either after picking up yellow cards in his previous two appearances.
Turkey was pumped 6-1 when they clashed with Austria in March. The nations met in Vienna, where Rangnick’s men outfought and outclassed their opponents. That’ll give the Austrians a significant physiological edge.
Montella will demand a much-improved performance. Turkey will know they’ll have little time on the ball, and making the slightest of mistakes could be costly.
Austria will play their usual aggressive approach. They press as a team extremely well. Stefan Posch and Philipp Mwene have been awesome at full-back. Marcel Sabitzer and Christoph Baumgartner have also impressed. This Austrian side should be feared.
Ralf Rangnick’s men are worthy favourites. Austria has performed terrifically against France, Holland and Poland. Vincenzo Montella will have flashbacks of their recent meeting with Das Team.
I’m expecting this encounter to be full of excitement. Goals, cards, tackles and free kicks are likely. This could be the game of the round.
I’ve analysed this encounter and have found a selection that appeals. Austria has been superb in Germany. I expect them to beat Turkey in Leipzig.
I’m keen on Austria. Rangnick’s men will be full of confidence heading here on Tuesday night. Despite a 1-0 defeat against France, Austria performed well and was in the game throughout. They’re aggressive and hunt in numbers, which has worked well in this competition.
Turkey is perhaps fortunate to have earned six points in the group stage. Mert Muldur and Arda Guler scored from a distance in their clash with Georgia. Willy Sagnol’s men hit the bar late on but couldn’t grab an equaliser. It was a breathtaking encounter full of action.
With Hakan Calhanoglu unavailable, it’s a huge disadvantage. The skipper pulls the strings and makes things tick. Samet Akaydin has started all three matches but faces a suspension, another miss for Montella.
Austria looks like a good bet here. They’re in a good moment, have a superb game plan and fight for one another. We can back Austria -0.5 Asian Handicap at 1.98, which appeals given the circumstances.
