Brentford play host to Arsenal this Saturday and it promises to be an exciting encounter with both teams playing good football in recent weeks. Brentford are currently 11th in the league table and enjoying a decent enough start to the season, but it will still be a tough task to beat Arsenal who are currently sat in 3rd.
Brentford have opened up as 7/2 outsiders to get 3 points at home whilst Arsenal have opened up at 3/4 to get a result from their visit to Brentford. I have some suggestions as to how this fixture will end up but before we get on to the verdict, let’s take a look at both teams.
Brentford have been playing some good football this year and even though they are up against a really good Arsenal side, they will have their chances simply due to the style of football they play. They won 3 games on the bounce before getting beat 3-0 away to Liverpool in their last game and it will be hard to get anything out of this fixture too but they are a dangerous team to write off at the same time. If they can score first, they could become tough to break down. They will need a quick start this week to have a chance.
Arsenal are enjoying another fine season and could potentially go top of the league come the end of the premier league weekend if fixtures fall their way. They have been playing some seriously good football and they are the ones to beat in this fixture for sure. Even though Arsenal were beaten 1-0 by Newcastle in their penultimate start, I think they would have learnt plenty from it and will take some beating here.
There isn't too much head to head form to go on but in the last 3 head to heads between these two teams, Arsenal have won two and drawn the other game where they were unlucky not to take all 3 points. The record suggests Arsenal are the right favourites for this game.
Brentford play some very likeable football and are going to get their chances this week, but they are going to need to be clinical to beat Arsenal this week. Arsenal themselves are playing some really good football and offer a lot of attacking options. I find it hard to see Brentofrd keeping a clean sheet here and will certainly need to score to have any chance of taking some points from this game.
Brentford could really do with scoring first this week to give them any chance of securing some points from this fixture, but this is going to be a big ask. We could be in for a very exciting game, but I only see this ending one way.
Brentford will be desperate to take some points out of this game at home, but it is going to be a seriously tough task against an Arsenal team who are thriving this season. Brentford do play some good attacking football which will help their cause, but at the same time they will need to remain switched on at the back if they are going to stop Arsenal scoring.
I do think they will give it a good go this week, but ultimately I think Arsenal will prove too good and once they score their first, I think they are just going to kick on and take the fixture in style. 3/4 may seem short in the market however I think they are good value for it and will take all of the beating here.
