The Premier League continues this weekend, as teams look to continue their impressive starts. For today’s betting tip, we’ll be focusing on the important clash between newly promoted Brentford and title contenders Liverpool at the Brentford Community Stadium.
Since Brentford were promoted they have impressed many fans with their results and style of play. Thomas Frank’s team continued their successful start with a win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux last weekend. Through five games, Brentford has only suffered one defeat but are facing their toughest test against Liverpool.
Brentford finished their win at Molineux with ten men. Shandon Baptiste received two yellow cards and he will serve his suspension whilst his team faces Liverpool in the Saturday late slot. Both Mads Sorensen and Josh DaSilva are suffering long term injuries so they will not feature.
Liverpool continued their unbeaten start to the Premier League season when they beat Crystal Palace at Anfield last weekend. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool sit second in the Premier League table entering this weekends fixture, and they have combined their lethal attack with a sturdy defence that has only conceded one goal since Virgil Van Dijk returned.
However, Liverpool has been dealt an injury blow. Thiago Alcantara, who has started the season well, is suffering from a leg injury and has been ruled out by manager Jurgen Klopp. But Liverpool’s squad is bolstered by a likely Roberto Firmino return to the bench and Trent Alexander Arnold is a possibility after missing the game against Palace.
These two sides have only met fifteen times in their history. Liverpool has had the better of the fixtures, they have won nine of the fifteen encounters and have only been beaten three times by Brentford.
But these two sides haven’t faced off since 1989 so this is a very different fixture than history suggests. Brentford have made an impressive start, they currently sit ninth, but Frank’s side haven’t faced a team with the calibre of talent like Liveprool. As for Liverpool, they have already beaten a newly promoted side when they defeated Norwich 3-0 on the Premier League opening day.
Even though Brentford have superseded expectations, they will struggle to defeat this Liverpool team. They will have home advantage, highlighted when they defeated Arsenal on the opening night of the 2021 season, and they will back themselves defensively. Jurgen Klopp’s side will likely win but it should be a close game considering these two sides have conceded three goals between them.
We’re predicting a Liverpool win, Liverpool to Score First and Under 3.5 goals with Ladbrokes at 11/8
