Brentford play host to league leaders Liverpool for the early kick off on Saturday and this ought to be a really good fixture. Brentford have opened up at 21/5 to pull off a big win at home whilst Liverpool are just 4/7 to take the three points away from home.
If you fancy the draw, you can get 16/5 but that will be a big ask in itself for Brentford. I have a betting suggestion for this fixture but let’s have a look at both sides first.
Brentford play some attractive football at times but it is their defence that seemingly let them down in recent weeks. They are coming into this fixture off the back of a 2-0 win against Wolves however prior to that they have dropped plenty of points whilst scoring plenty. They are going to have to sharpen up at the back this weekend if they are going to beat Liverpool, but I think Brentford could get on the score sheet.
Liverpool will need to maintain the pace at the top of the league with Manchester City only 2 points behind and with a game in hand so it’s important they take the three points from the early kick off. They have been getting results even when they haven’t been at their best and bounced back from a 3-1 loss against Arsenal to win 3-1 against Burnley last weekend. They will be tough to beat here but the importance of the three points definitely adds a slight element of pressure.
Liverpool have won three of the last 5 fixtures against Brentford and to be fair to Brentford, they often play very well against Liverpool without taking much from the game but they will definitely give it a good go again this weekend. The head to heads tell you Liverpool are the best team and they are going to be a tough team to beat this week.
Liverpool may not be at their brilliant best at the moment but they should ultimately have too much firepower for Brentford who as mentioned, are struggling in defence lately. I think the fact that Liverpool have managed to get the momentum back after beating Burnley last week will make them very tough to beat, but they will need to be switched on from the first whistle.
After looking at both of the two teams it is apparent to me that Liverpool are the team to beat but it’s not the most exciting bet in the world at 4/7. I think the fact that Brentford are decent in attack gives them the opportunity to get on the scoreboard and we could find better value in a different market.
Liverpool look like they will take all the beating this week and even though you could get stuck into them at 4/7, I think you can find some better value elsewhere. Brentford have done really well to get on the scoreboard in most of their games in the last month or so and I think they could score against Liverpool this weekend too.
So perhaps to find a bit of value it could be worth backing a Liverpool win but with both teams to score at 7/4. I think Brentford have enough to score this weekend but ultimately think Liverpool will prove to be too strong and take the victory.
