We have the return of Premier League football following the international break, as Brentford welcomes Manchester United to the Gtech Community Stadium in the late-night Saturday kick-off in what is a huge game at both ends of the table.
The new calendar year has not been kind to Thomas Frank’s Brentford side as the Bees have won just two of their games in all competitions so far in 2024.
They currently find themselves on a run of six Premier League games without a victory since an away triumph over Wolves back in February.
The Bees sit in 15th and just five points above the relegation places and unless their form picks up then they could be in real danger of being dragged into the relegation dogfight. They do have a tricky next three games though as they face three of the top 8 in the league.
Unlike opponents Brentford, Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United side have had a somewhat successful 2024 so far, suffering just two losses from their 12 games in all competitions with nine of those being wins.
The Red Devils’ solid run of form has seen them climb up the table and they sit in the Europa League places and nine points adrift of a Champions League spot with 10 games to go. United have seen a decent number of goals netted across their league games this season, with 78 scored for a total season-wide average of 2.79 goals per game.
The last five Premier League meetings between these two sides have mostly gone in Man United’s favour barring the one anomaly last season when these two met at the Gtech Community Stadium, and the match ended in a surprise 4-0 rout for the Bees.
In the other four games, the Red Devils have netted plenty of goals, scoring nine whilst only conceding two. United have won all three of their meetings with Brentford at Old Trafford and the prestigious stadium is not a happy hunting ground for the Bees.
Instead of tipping a results bet for this one, looking into Brentford’s recent throw-in statistics in recent games, it looks as if that could be a sensible avenue to explore betting-wise. With the Bees not in great form and at home, they will be doing their best to create a positive result and start on the front foot.
Looking at those recent aforementioned Brentford throw-in statistics, a bet of over 17.5 throw-ins for the home side in this game could be productive.
The market for Brentford throw-ins looks very appealing from a betting perspective for this one. Bet 365 have set Brentford's throw-in line at 17.5- a line they have hit 11/14 times at home.
With the Bees on a tough run of form recently, they will be aiming to take the game to Manchester United, especially in front of the Brentford faithful at home.
Brentford are struggling this season and will be pushing for a crucial win on Saturday evening. However, Thomas Frank's side have only won four home games this season, drawing four and losing six.
The Bees have struggled defensively, conceding 15 in their last six, including at least two in the last four. However, only two games in this run were at home, with Brentford drawing 2-2 with Chelsea and losing 1-4 to Liverpool at the G-Tech Stadium.
Manchester United on the other hand have won just one of their last three league games having lost to Fulham and Manchester City.
There is not much to separate them on the pitch at the moment, and this is reflected in the price.
