Brentford will be hoping to be the next team to sting Spurs on Sunday afternoon with the possibility to leapfrog into the top half of the table. Although Tottenham head into this fixture with a midweek win against Elfsborg under their belts, Ange Postecoglou's side have picked up just one point from a possible 15 in the Premier League.
Brentford's home form must improve
Brentford's incredible 2024 form in front of their own fans hasn't been able to translate into 2025, losing four of their five matches - including a 1-0 loss against Plymouth in the FA Cup. If it wasn't for Christian Norgaard's 92nd minute goal against Manchester City, it would have been five defeats at home on the spin.
They are, however, coming up against one of the most out-of-form teams in the Premier League, and this might just be the opportunity to reignite their fine form shown in the first half of the season. Either way, games are never dull at the Brentford Community Stadium.
Spurs continue to suffer
Consecutive defeats against Arsenal, Everton and Leicester in the Premier League have seen Spurs drop to 15th. Fans are calling for Postecoglou to be sacked, while others are holding on to see if he can achieve success in the EFL Cup. Either way, it's a terrible time to be a Tottenham fan.
Wins against Hoffenheim and Elfsborg in the Europa League have slightly softened the blow, but sitting nine points behind Fulham in 10th, it has been a bitterly disappointing campaign for the North London club.
This fixture has very much been one for the neutral, with the last five head-to-heads producing at least four goals. One of those, last season, produced five. And with both defences proving to be rather weak at present, we could see another goal fest.
And although Spurs have struggled of late, fans can take some hope that they have beaten Brentford in their last two meetings. However, both of those were at home, and Spurs haven't beaten Brentford away from home since 1998.
With both teams struggling to pick up results in the Premier League, picking out a result looks rather difficult due to Brentford's poor start to 2025 in front of their own fans. Instead, I'm focusing on goals.
In Brentford's last five home matches, the Bees have conceded 10 goals - including two+ against Forest, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City.
Yet despite such a poor start to the year, Brentford still have the 4th best home record in the league, scoring 29 goals while picking up 23 points - more than Aston Villa, Forest and Newcastle.
Spurs, on the other hand, have only picked up 10 points from their 11 away matches to date. They have, however, scored 19, more than 11 other clubs. Wins have been elusive, but goals haven't.
And with that in mind, as well as the sheer volume of goals in their last five head-to-heads, bet365 are offering 4/5 on over 3.5 goals - a bet that has landed in all of those games mentioned. Good luck if you're following.
