Brighton welcome Man City to the Amex Stadium on Saturday evening as the champions look to avoid a fourth straight defeat after a shock 4-1 loss against Sporting in the Champions League
Brighton's eight match unbeaten run at home came to an end against Liverpool in the EFL Cup, before losing to Arne Slot's three days later at Anfield in the league.
As a result, they have slipped to 8th in the table. However, a win could propel them into the top four, which is plenty of incentive for the Seagulls to get back on track.
That was their first home defeat in the Premier League this campaign, having beaten Man United, Wolves and Tottenham - and how they've love to add the champions to that list.
Goals haven't been an issue for Fabian Hurzeler's side, but with just one clean sheet in front of their fans this season, there's defensive work to be done.
After ten matches, Man City occupy second place in the Premier League table. A 2-0 defeat on the south coast against Bournemouth keeps things interesting in the battle for the title, but there's more than just one issue for Pep Guardiola at present.
Three consecutive defeats across the EFL Cup, Premier and Champions League are worrying times for Man City, who have also shipped in eight goals during those matches.
Prior to these defeats, Guardiola's side just got over the line with a narrow victory against relegation candidates Southampton. A trip to the Amex might not be so easy for the champions.
Brighton haven't beaten Man City since 2021, suffering five defeats and picking up just one point in the process. That sole victory came at home but was helped out massively thanks to Joao Cancelo's red card in the 10th minute.
Last season Man City ran riot against this week's opponents, winning 4-0 at the Amex, having led 3-0 at half-time. However, with Guardiola's current form a concern, a repeat result looks unlikely.
All three of those defeats Man City have suffered have been away from home. Prior to that, they had to rely on John Stones 95th minute goal away to 20th place Wolves at the Molineux. Something isn't quite right with the champions, and the Seagulls will be hoping to sweep in and claim another rare win against Guardiola's side.
Brighton have managed to score at least two goals in their five last home matches. In fact, Hurzeler's side have only failed to score in one of their nine games at the Amex this season. Guardiola's team will have to work incredibly hard if they are to reverse their current poor form.
With Man City currently struggling on the road, and with Brighton scoring freely in front of their own supporters, a 4-0 result in favour of the visitors looks unlikely this time round.
Brighton have caught the eye under their new head coach, and although their record against Man City hasn't been anything to shout about, this may be the perfect time to play on them. The Amex can create one hell of an atmosphere - especially against the big six - and if they score or equalise, Man City could be caught out.
Erling Haaland has also failed to score in his last two matches - and although that might not sound like anything to worry about - we aren't talking about an ordinary forward. Without him scoring, Man City have clearly struggled.
Yet Brighton's lack of clean sheets (one in five) gives the champions - and Haaland - plenty of optimism that they can get back on track. No doubt the Norweigian will be hoping to make amends after his missed penalty against Sporting midweek.
With both teams scoring and conceding, the obvious bet is to back goals. Using bet365's bet builder option, you can combine over 2.5 goals and both teams to score yes at 3/4 which may sound short, but it has landed in both sides last three matches.
