Brighton have been splashing the cash this window and as a result they have only strengthened their claim to secure a spot back in Europe. Their opening day fixture couldn't have gone much better beating Everton 3-0 in their own back yard and arguably, it could have been more. With all these new additions, it'll take a brave man to say they can't achieve a top seven finish.
Since their victory, Leeds United's Georginio Rutter has joined for over £40m, who could be set to make his debut against Man United this weekend.
A new signing of their own saw Man United edge past Fulham in the Premier League's opening match. Forward Joshua Zirkzee's goal three minutes from time spared Erik Ten Haag's blushes - but the head coach will be worried about his trip to the south coast if his team put in a similar performance.
Man United have also waved their cheque book about this summer, but after a poor pre-season, there's plenty still to fix if they are to earn a Champions League spot via the Premier League.
In order to achieve their goal of a European spot, Brighton need to beat the likes of Man United who will be rivalling them for one of those places. The good news for Seagull fans is the fact recent history favours the hosts. Brighton have beaten Man United three times in their last five head-to-heads, including a 3-1 victory at Old Trafford last campaign.
Not only should Brighton have scored more against Everton, but defensively they were very well organised, only facing one shot on their goal across the 90 minutes. A defensive pairing between Lewis Dunk and Jan Paul van Hecke may be one of the more underrated partnerships in the league.
Man United were able to keep Fulham at arm's length, but the London based club aren't expected to be challenging for a European place this season. This will be a much more difficult test for Ten Haag's side. They did, however, win 2-0 at the Amex last season, but Brighton's new-look side are almost unrecognisable from that day. If United start how they did against Fulham this weekend, Brighton will be quick to punish them.
With plenty of optimism within Brighton's camp in the early stages of the season, Seagulls fans will be in a positive mood ahead of their fixture against Man United. With nothing to fear, it makes more sense to side with the hosts after their convincing 3-0 win against Everton. Here's why.
Brighton's new manager Fabian Hurzeler has appeared to have already won over a large part of the Seagulls' fanbase, and the club's ambition to trust him with big money signings indicates they are in for a big season.
The manner in which they brushed Everton aside and how dangerous they moved the ball in the final third would have pleased their new German head coach, who will be hoping his team can produce a similar performance against Man United.
Having already beaten Man United in three of their last five matches, there will be no nerves from the hosts on Saturday lunchtime, but the same can't be said for Ten Haag. Their lacklustre performance against Fulham wasn't the most convincing way to start a new season, and Brighton will be confident they can pick them off in front of their own fans.
There's a real sense of belief amongst Brighton fans this campaign, and their first match at the Amex will see them get right behind their side. You can back Brighton Draw No Bet at 5/6 against Man United, and here's hoping we can make it two wins from two in my new weekly column.
