An attractive Super Sunday offering sees Brighton and Hove Albion host Tottenham Hotspur in a match that could result in one of the sides leaping into the European positions, leaving the other in mid-table.

The Seagulls went into their match with Chelsea still unbeaten in the league but after defeat at Stamford Bridge, the narrative can suddenly be spun as they are now without a win in four.

Fabian Hurzeler saw his high line tactic punished by the Blues as Cole Palmer struck four times in the first half, and the German admitted post-match that he would discuss it with his players as he suggested the ‘connection was missing’.

Brighton kept it tight at the back at the very start of the campaign, but they have since conceded eight goals in three games in all competitions.

Spurs annihilated Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend. It was a signature win for Ange Postecoglou, who described it as an ‘outstanding performance’.

Micky van de Ven caught the eye with a sensational run to set up the first, while Dejan Kulusevski was also at his best, adding the second goal and being constantly involved in the final third.

Postecoglou had come under some criticism following back-to-back defeats by Newcastle United and Arsenal in September, but his team have responded and still look like a serious contender for a top-four spot, especially now that Dominic Solanke is scoring with regularity.

The Winner Takes It All

Every Premier League fixture between Brighton and Spurs since the beginning of the 2018/19 season has had a winner, with Tottenham securing the points on eight occasions, and the Seagulls notching four victories.

Three of Brighton’s triumphs have been at home, including last year’s 4-2 victory in which Spurs scored twice late on to make the scoreline look respectable.

Tottenham have not had the best away record since Postecoglou took charge but will arrive on the South Coast full of confidence after dispatching Manchester United.
