Burnley welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Turf Moor on Monday evening, with the Clarets desperate to pick up some points. Free-scoring Spurs will be scenting blood, though.
Burnley’s only victory in their last six games came against Championship outfit Millwall in the League Cup, a competition that they have subsequently been knocked out of by Manchester City. Their 0-0 draw away at West Bromwich Albion last time out saw them pick up their first league point of the season. They have scored an average of 0.75 goals per Premier League game and conceded an average per game of two, which does not look very healthy.
In their last four games in all competitions, Spurs have scored 19 goals. While 10 of those have come in the Europa League, they did manage to beat Manchester United 6-1 at Old Trafford during that run too. Despite that clear attacking strength, Spurs have managed just two wins in the league so far this season, with their last run out at home to West Ham United ending in a 3-3 draw.
The last five meetings between the two sides have all been in the Premier League. Spurs have won three of those, Burnley one and there has been one draw, which happened back in March of this year. In those five games, Spurs have scored 11 goals, while the Clarets have managed just three. If you think Spurs can score freely again, Betway are offering odds of 2/1 on them scoring more than 2.5 goals on Monday evening.
Our featured tip for this game comes from Betway, who are offering odds of 13/2 on Spurs winning the game 2-0. Given Burnley’s recent form and the visitors’ goalscoring feats this season, we think that looks the most likely final scoreline.
