The Premier League continues this weekend, with teams looking to gain momentum as the hectic Christmas period continues. For today’s betting tip, we’ll be focusing on the important fixture in the Premier League this weekend between Chelsea and Leeds United at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea dropped to third after defeat last weekend. West Ham United got the better of Thomas Tuchel’s side in the London derby with an Arthur Masauku long-range strike and condemned Chelsea to a first Premier League defeat since September. A win against Leeds United on the weekend and they could return to the peak of the Prem.

As Chelsea look to rebound, they will be suffering from a depleted squad. First team mainstays: Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante have injuries which have weakened Chelsea’s midfield. While Trevor Chalobah and Ben Chillwell have compounded the Blues defensive worries.

Leeds United are at the opposite end of the Premier League table. They find themselves battling against relegation, but three positive results in a row has lifted them six-points clear of the relegation zone.

As for squad depth, Leeds United were punished with defensive injuries earlier in the campaign. This has continued to a lesser extent through December. Robin Koch has had surgery to repair his groin/pelvic injury, while Pascal Struijk suffered some damage during Leeds’ last outing but he should be fit for this weekend according to Marcelo Bielsa.

Chelsea will be desperate to get back to winning ways this weekend. And they avoided defeat in both outings against the Yorkshire side last year. At Stamford Bridge, the Blues eased to a 3-1 victory, whilst at Elland Road the points were split in a 0-0 between the two.

Chelsea can rely on their impressive home form during the 2021/22 campaign. They’ve lost one home game all season, a 1-0 defeat to the current league leaders Manchester City in September. Whereas Leeds have struggled away from home all year - one sole win.

Chelsea have to win this fixture. They can’t lose anymore ground on fellow title chasers  Liverpool and Manchester City. Therefore, we think they’ll have too much for a Leeds side that admittedly is on the resurgence. We’re predicting Chelsea to win and both teams to score with SportNation at 21/10.
