Chelsea welcome Newcastle to Stamford Bridge in round nine of the Premier League, with the hosts looking to bounce back after their loss at Anfield last weekend.
Although Chelsea failed to beat Liverpool at Anfield once more, they've shown plenty of promise in the early stages of the season that this could be a good year for the club. A convincing 4-1 victory over Panathinaikos on the Europa Conference League saw Enzo Maresca's men bounce back in style.
Wins over West Ham and Brighton, scoring plenty of goals, indicates Chelsea are moving in the right direction under their new coach. This will be another big test for them, but a match their fans will expect them to win on home soil.
It has been a stop start season for Eddie Howe, who's team head into this with just one win in their last five matches - although that came in the EFL Cup against AFC Wimbledon. You have to go back to mid-September the last time Newcastle picked up three Premier League points (Wolves 2-1) which is a huge concern for both the club and its fans.
Newcastle huffed and puffed at home to Brighton last weekend, and somehow fell to a 1-0 defeat. Despite 60% possession and 21 shots, Howe's side failed to find an equaliser, and now head to Stamford Bridge looking desperate for points.
This fixture has thrown up some classics in recent years, with both Chelsea and Newcastle have won one apiece from their last five head-to-head meetings.
Chelsea beat Newcastle 3-2 at home last campaign, where Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer were both on the scoresheet. Both have impressed in the early stages of the new season, with the latter proving unmanageable at the Bridge.
The hosts have only lost once at home this season, and that came against the champions, but have since shown a resilience against all six teams that they have faced since. Although Newcastle will prove to be a tricky side to beat, their current form won't scare Maresca's men.
And that's because they have only won one match on the road. A win at Wolves, who sit bottom of the Premier League table, won't have Chelsea worried, especially after seeing their opponents lost to Fulham and struggle on the road against relegation-threatened Everton.
Newcastle fans can't wait for Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier to return from injury, but both are out for a while yet, and Howe has his work cut out in the capital on Sunday afternoon.
With Chelsea's new found confidence and with Newcastle failing to convince in recent weeks, Maresca will be hoping to win his second match of the week in front of their home crowd.
Despite a lapse in concentration shortly after equalising last weekend against Liverpool, Chelsea have been fairly strong at home since their opening day defeat.
The last time Chelsea played at home in the Premier League, Cole Palmer scored four goals in the first half against Brighton, and the England international now has six goals and five assists in just eight matches this season. After scoring 22 in 33 last campaign, Palmer is continuing to show why he's one of the best not only the league, but also the world.
Newcastle were poor the last time they were in the capital, where Fulham brushed them aside 3-1. A trip to Liverpool didn't go much better, where Anthony Gordon's missed penalty cost the Magpies three points and extended their winless run.
Although only separated by two points in the table, Chelsea have shown more in front of goal which could be the difference. The hosts have scored 17 goals, whereas Newcastle have struggled so far, with just eight in eight matches.
Factoring in Cole Palmer's performances at the Bridge this season, Chelsea should collect three points this weekend with their no.10 returning to the scoresheet. On bet365, you can back Chelsea to win and Palmer to score anytime at 15/8. Good luck to all that choose to follow.
