The Premier League continues this weekend with a crucial fixture in the battle for European football. For today’s betting tip, we’ll be focusing on the important matchup between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge
After beginning the season as title contenders, Chelsea have slipped up in recent weeks and they are out of title contention. They are four games without a win in the Premier League - including a costly 1-0 defeat to Manchester City last weekend.
Chelsea’s poor form has coincided with a plethora of absences in defence. Eduoard Mendy is still absent at the African Cup of Nations, whilst Ben Chilwell and Reece James remain injured for the foreseeable. Both Andreas Christensen and Trevor Chalobah will both be unavailable for the fixture.
Whilst Chelsea have been faltering, Tottenham Hotspur have turned around their early season slump and are serious contenders for European football. Antonio Conte has improved Spurs defensively and they are eight games undefeated as of writing (they play Leicester on the 19th).
A few key members of Tottenham Hotspurs are missing due to injuries. Korean superstar Heung-Min Son should be back in February, much like defenders Christian Romero and Eric Dier.
Chelsea are entering this fixture on a turbulent run of form under Thomas Tuchel. The Blues started the season impressively, but they’re struggling to win lately. However, Chelsea have an impressive record against this weekend’s opponents.
Chelsea hasn’t been defeated by Tottenham in their last seven – including a 1-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium last campaign. In addition, Chelsea got the better of Tottenham in their two-legged semi final in the Carabao Cup.
The recent meeting suggests Chelsea should get the better of Tottenham Hotspur this weekend. However, Antonio Conte has improved Spurs’ side since he joined the club in 2021. Due to Chelsea getting the better of recent fixtures, we are going to suggest that they get a much needed win at Stamford Bridge. A Chelsea win and under 3.5 goals is 5/4 Unibet.
