The Premier League is on a break this weekend, but the EFL Championship continues with plenty of exciting games ahead. For today’s betting tip, we’ll be focusing on the important matchup between Derby County and Birmingham City at Pride Park. 

No team has had a season like Derby County. The Rams weren’t able to spend any money during either transfer window due to the club’s current financial problems, and they’ve battled their 21-point deduction.

Despite their deduction, Derby County have battled off the bottom of the Championship, leapfrogging Barnsley a few weeks ago.

For their home game against Birmingham, Derby will be without Ravel Morrison. The former Manchester United man was sent off in the Nigel Clough game, and he will join Krystian Bielik as the unavailable players.

Birmingham have slowly drifted towards the danger zone themselves. The Midland club hit a slump over recent weeks, and they’ve dropped to 18th in the Championship. They are comfortably 12 points clear of the drop, and a win against Derby could ease their relegation fears.

When they travel to Derby, Birmingham will be without key forward Troy Deeney. The veteran had four goals in his 18 appearances this season, but he will be unavailable due to a hip injury. Harlee Dean is also doubtful for the game.

This is extremely close to being a relegation six-pointer for both sides. Birmingham are looking over their shoulder as the likes of Hull City begin to climb the table. Much like Birmingham, Derby County are searching for points to give themselves a fighting chance of being a Championship club next season.

These two have flip-flopped when it comes to dominance over the fixture. Lee Bowyer’s Birmingham have won the last two, but Derby had won the three prior, so these sides are well matched before Saturday’s fixture.
