The first international break of the season is just beginning as World Cup qualifiers continue. For today’s betting tip, we’ll be focusing on England’s return to international football. Gareth Southgate’s England can bounce back from Euro heartache as they face Andorra at Wembley.
England are entering this international break after a summer to remember. The Three Lions made it to the European Championship final before they were bested by Italy. Fortunately for Southgate, the majority of that squad can return for the latest round of internationals.
The defence is mostly the same, Stones and Maguire return to the heart of the defence and star of the Euros Luke Shaw returns. Southgate has bolstered his options with the return of Trent Alexander Arnold at the back. As for midfield, Jesse Lingard is in the squad after not making the Euros.
The biggest addition was Patrick Bamford earning his first England call-up. With games against Hungary, Poland, and Andorra, Bamford could start and score during this international period.
Whilst England were at the Euros, Andorra did play two international friendlies during the summer months. They were defeated by the Republic of Ireland but fought to a 0-0 with Gibraltar in June. That result ended a streak of seven defeats in a row for the Andorrans as they struggled to find victories.
Little is known about the Andorran side but they are an experienced bunch at national level. The majority of the squad has north of 30 caps and have represented their nation for numerous years. The most experienced squad member plays in defence. Ildefons Lima will surpass 130 caps for his homeland when he captains the side during England this international break.
England has never struggled to beat Andorra. The English and Andorrans have faced off four times, with England winning comfortably on each occasion. However, the two teams haven’t met since 2009 when England were victorious in a 6-0 victory.
On the four occasions, Andorra are yet to register a single goal against the Three Lions and that seems unlikely to continue when they face off at Wembley. This is highlighted by Andorra’s inability to win in the past 17 fixtures and they haven’t scored two in a game since 2019.
Whereas England haven’t conceded a goal during these World Cup qualifiers.
England are almost guaranteed to win this match and that is reflected in the odds. The best odds for England are 1/50 so more will be needed to make some profit on this fixture. We’re therefore predicting an England win, over 3.5 England goals, England to score in both halves and NO to both teams to score with Ladbrokes at 10/11
