The Premier League continues this weekend, as the hectic December schedule kicks off with plenty of games for fans to enjoy . For today’s betting tip, we’ll be focusing on the important fixture in the Premier League this weekend between Everton and Arsenal at Goodison Park.
Not many teams are in worse form than Rafa Benitez’s Everton. The Merseyside outfit haven’t been able to gain three points for seven-straight games in the Premier League. This spell includes losses to Watford, Brentford and Wolves - all of whom are below Arsenal in the current Premier League table.
Their form hasn’t been helped by injuries. Prolific striker Dominic Calvert Lewin is reportedly a fortnight away from returning. In addition, Mason Holgate is ruled out via suspension, Tom Davies and Andre Gomes are ruled out indefinitely.
Whilst Everton have struggled, Arsenal have had an Autumn to remember. Besides the one loss to Liverpool, Mikel Arteta led the Gunners to eight games without defeat, and a manager of the month award. Their improvement in form coincides with the defensive improvement from the London side - their last three victories have been to nil.
Mikel Arteta also has a healthy squad to choose from. Both Granit Xhaka and Sead Kolasinac will be absent due to a knee and ankle injury respectively. Bukayo Saka has a little injury, but if he gets rested against Manchester United, he could feature against Everton.
Despite Everton’s awful slump of form, they can take inspiration from their recent history against Arsenal. The Blue side of Merseyside have avoided defeat in four of the last five - including winning both fixtures during the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.
But this is a different Arsenal. After an awful start, Arteta has turned his side’s fortunes around and they have climbed within touching distance of the top four. A victory in midweek and a victory over Everton will see them enter the Champions League places for the first time all season.
Two teams on opposite ends of the form table are facing off on Monday Night Football. Taking into account both teams' form, history goes out the window, therefore we’re picking Arsenal to win the fixture with William Hill at 23/20.
