Everton welcome Chelsea to Goodison Park on Saturday night, with the Toffees attempting to win a third successive Premier League home match against the west Londoners.
Everton are looking to beat Chelsea in three consecutive home Premier League matches for the first time since 2012. They have lost their last two home league matches this season, though. Carlo Ancelotti’s team have not lost three in a row at home since 2016. In their last game they drew 1-1 away at Burnley. The Toffees currently sit in ninth place in the league table, five points behind third-placed Chelsea.
Chelsea head into this game on the back of a 1-1 home draw with Krasnodar in a dead rubber of a Champions League match. Last weekend, Frank Lampard’s team beat Leeds United 3-1 at home in the Premier League. In their last five Premier League games they have won four times and drawn once. Chelsea are a good attacking side, averaging 2.27 goals per game in the league in 2020/21.
Everton forward Dominic Clavert-Lewin is one of the Premier League’s form players. He has hit 11 goals in the league this season, and Chelsea will need to keep a close eye on him on Saturday. Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud can become the first Blues player to net in seven successive Premier League starts since Mark Stein in 1993/94. William Hill have the Frenchman priced at evens to score at anytime in Saturday’s game.
Our prediction for this game is that Chelsea will win it narrowly. While Everton have significant strengths, we think that odds of 2/1 from William Hill on the London outfit winning with both teams scoring look too tempting turn down. Giroud may well be on the scoresheet once again.
