Arsenal 2026/27 Betting Preview

Arsenal lifted the Premier League trophy for the first time since 2004 in may, beating Pep Guardiola’s Man City in what would turn out to be his final year in charge of the club.

With Enzo Maresca coming in to challenge Mikel Arteta, it’s clear the bookmakers believe the Gunners are likely to defend their crown - but can they? Nathan Joyes takes a closer look at Arsenal’s ins and outs ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.

Team analysis

Arsenal were, for the vast majority of the season, flawless. Arteta was under serious pressure to deliver a major title after serious investment and backing from the board, and he was a penalty shootout away from two. If Arsenal had beaten PSG, it would have been a historic campaign for the Gunners - but it's a case of one step at a time, and it was their aim to secure a major trophy in 2026, and they achieved exactly that.

Their success was largely built on their defensive resilience. With 19 clean sheets to their name in the Premier League, Arsenal proved to be extremely difficult to break down, which is one of the reasons why David Raya won the Premier League Golden Glove.

With William Saliba and Gabriel in front of the Spaniard, Arsenal arguably have the best defensive partnership in world football. All three remain at the club - no one is abandoning the project now.

Yet Arsenal also built a reputation for their attacking set pieces. The Gunners fired in 24 - including 18 from corners - which was a Premier League record. Whether the other 19 teams will have a plan this time round to stop Arsenal dominating from dead balls will certainly be interesting to see. Declan Rice was nothing short of excellent when it came to corners and free kicks last season.

At the Emirates, Arsenal were exceptional, averaging over two goals per match while only conceding 11 - the lowest in the league. On the road, they came away with the best record too, five points clear of Man City in 2nd.

And so it finally looks as though Arteta has pulled it all together. The Spaniard has certainly spent enough but his squad are certainly united, and this is another big season for Arsenal to kick on and prove last year wasn’t a one off. "Catch us if you can" will be the message from the reigning champions.

Key players

Arsenal have decided to strengthem their attack once again with the addition of Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis for £36m. The Greek forward contributed 40 goals and assists domestically last campaign, as well as three goals and five assists in the Champions League.

Piero Hincapie’s release clause was activated and the Ecuadorian will now be a permanent player on Arsenal’s books. The only major exits were fringe players. Leandro Trossard moved to Besiktas, while Jakub Kiwior joined Porto.

Although Viktor Gyokeres finished as Arsenal’s top goalscorer in the Premier League (14), Arteta clearly wants to add more firepower to his front line, and Tzolis has proven himself against major clubs in the last 12 months.

If the 24-year-old adapts to his new surroundings quickly, the Greek will be a serious candidate for Arsenal’s top goalscorer - or the Premier League most assist award - considering his contributions in Belgium last campaign.

In behind, both Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka scored seven Premier League goals last campaign, and the England internationals will hope to add to their tallies this time round as well.

And that is why Arsenal were successful. They don’t rely on one individual but have plenty of talent in the final third that can hurt anyone. This is a highly competitive squad, yet Arteta has managed to keep it healthy between his players.

Season prediction

Now that Arsenal have finally lifted the curse that has haunted them for 22 years, there will be confidence within the camp that they can replicate their success once more.

Both Man City and Liverpool head into the new season with new managers, while Man United need more standout quality if they are to prove competitive. As the main settled club, that has only strengthened their squad, Arsenal are deserved favourites to go back-to-back.

Priced at 6/4, and as the only proven team heading into the new campaign, the odds are rather enticing and I certainly wouldn’t put anyone off backing Arsenal to lift the trophy come May.
