Bet365 is offering a bet boost on Paris Saint-Germain winning a third consecutive UEFA Champions League title ahead of a box office clash against Barcelona tonight (Tuesday).
Luis Enrique’s team are aiming to become just the second team to win a hat-trick of Champions League trophies, after Real Madrid achieved the feat between 2016 and 2018. Bet365 has enhanced the odds on PSG achieving that this season, increasing the price from 4/1 to 9/2.
PSG are second-favourites to win this season’s competition, and in Barcelona they will face the only team shorter priced than them at 8pm UK time. Enrique will come up against his former club which he played and managed for, winning the Champions League there as coach in 2015. Barcelona are current tournament favourites at 7/2.
Barca are also slight favourites to beat PSG tonight, with Bet365 pricing the reigning Spanish champions at 7/5. The hosts are 29/20 to secure a third win out of three in the Champions League so far this season, having already beaten Slovan Bratislava 6-1 at home and having secured an impressive 2-4 victory at Manchester City last week.
Last season, PSG became only the second team to win the competition back-to-back when defeating Arsenal in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in the final in Baku, Azerbaijan. This followed a 5-0 romp in the previous season’s final against Inter Milan in Munich; the largest ever victory in the final of the competition.
While Enrique’s team are widely seen as the best in world football currently, there is a theory the team holds an advantage in this tournament due to a lack of competition domestically, allowing Enrique to rotate his squad more effectively than other teams.
In last week’s success at Manchester City, Enrique was able to make eight changes from the team that beat Le Mans 3-1 in the French Ligue 1 the previous Saturday.
A further eight changes were made by Enrique when PSG ran out 1-3 winners at Strasbourg in a league game last Saturday. While PSG currently sit second in the league table behind Lyon, they have won 12 of the last 14 Ligue 1 titles, with other teams struggling to compete with the wealth provided by PSG’s majority owners Qatar Sports Investments.
PSG are in excellent form, with six wins in a row in all competitions, and regardless of whether tonight’s game against Barcelona ends in victory, qualification for the knockout stages should not be too much trouble, with the top eight teams in the league stage qualifying automatically, and teams finishing between ninth and 24th in the table going into a play-off round.
Tonight’s opponents Barcelona have made a very strong start to the season. Hansi Flick’s team have won all 11 matches in all competitions, scoring 48 goals in the process.
While the team hold a five-point lead at the top of the Spanish La Liga, PSG are currently the only team to sit above Barcelona in the league stage of the Champions League after two matches, but there are still six games to go before the league stage completes in January.
Last season’s runners-up Arsenal are third favourites to win the competition at 11/2, while German champions Bayern Munich are priced at 6/1. Meanwhile, Real Madrid are 8/1 to reclaim their title which they last won in 2024.
