Bouremouth secured European football for the first time in their history last campaign but will jet around the continent with a new head coach. With Andoni Iraola now at Liverpool, the Cherries have appointed Marco Rose to lead the charge.

The Salzburg, Dortmund and most recently Leipzig manager arrives with a wealth of experience at the highest level, and although Iraola's departure will have hurt, it looks as though Bournemouth have made a solid replacement. If Rose can pick up where the Spaniard left the Cherries, there's every reason why Bournemouth can replicate their success this time round too. Team analysis

Like many Premier League clubs this summer, Bournemouth are going through a transitional period despite their best ever finish. Iraola's work didn't go unnoticed, and when Liverpool came calling, the Spaniard could hardly say no.

Yet Bournemouth also had a wide range of applicants to fill his post. Bournemouth are now in Europe and have an extremely exciting squad that could well compete for the trophy come May.

The Cherries landed on Marco Rose, someone with Champions League experience to his name, and his profile aligned with what Bournemouth want to achieve and how they want to play in 2026/27.

Despite the unwanted disruption, Bournemouth reacted quickly and they got their number one target. Rose is an ambitious manager, who wants to play attacking football, and that's exactly what home fans want to see at the Vitality Stadium.

There have also been plenty of outgoings on the south coast during the summer away from the head coach. Marcos Senesi has joined Spurs, Junior Traore has moved to Marseille, while Luis Sinisterra has made his move to Cruzeiro on a permanent deal. Elsewhere, Alejandro Jimenez has been loaned out to Fiorentina.

With plenty of exits, many have come in to replace those no longer at the club. Alvaro Rodriguez has joined for a shade over £20m from Elche, Antonio Silva has left Benfica for a similar figure, while Sevilla's Juanlu Sanchez has joined for around £8m. Further investment is expected while Rose continues to build a squad capable of competing within Europe this season.

Key players

Bournemouth's Brazilians are two players that are going to have to be at their best if the Cherries are to have a successful season. Forward Evanilson only scored six Premier League goals last season, previously scoring 10, and he needs to push on and return to double digits if Bournemouth are to progress.

Their other Brazilian, Rayan Vitor, had an excellent debut campaign in the Premier League, scoring five goals and providing two assists from his 15 matches. If he stays fit, there's no doubt that he can be the club's main player this campaign.

Another player who struggled in front of goal last season, similar to Evanilson, was Justin Kluivert. Having previously scored 12 goals in 24/25, the Dutch winger only bagged two last campaign. Rose will need the 27-year-old to recapture his old form.

Marcus Tavernier was a shining light for the Cherries with 11 goal contributions, and the 27-year-old will no doubt be an integral player - both domestically and in Europe - as Bournemouth prepare to battle on both fronts.

Season prediction

Will Rose focus on the Premier League or Europa League this season? It's going to be difficult to manage both, but the Cherries will know they will have an excellent chance to win the latter. Rose is experienced within the competition and that will be a massive advantage for his new club.

With that in mind, there's no real surprise to see that the bookmakers do not believe they will have a good season domestically. Bournemouth are 6/1 to finish in the top six. That might be a stretch with the managerial change and plenty of new faces, but it has created value in the top half market.

Bournemouth at 6/5 to finish 10th or higher - and that has to be a bet. Rose has added some intriguing profiles to his squad, which is already full of talented individuals. If his new team can gel and Rose settles in well to his new environment, it's hard to find 10 teams that are better equipped than Bournemouth.

The Cherries will be keen to win the Europa League, and how far they go in the tournament may influence matches and squad selections later on in the campaign, but Bournemouth to finish at least 10th at odds-against certainly is the value bet.
