Brentford 2026/27 Betting Preview

Publish Date: 14/08/2026
Fact checked by: Jordan Noble

Brentford surpassed all expectations last season in the Premier League. While they were expected to finish in the bottom three, Keith Andrews guided the Bees to 9th place, narrowly missing out on Europe on goal difference.

As a result, Brentford have invested in their squad as they look to carry the momentum over into the 2026/27 campaign. Nathan Joyes examines whether that is possible and if they can take another step in the right direction.

If you're searching for the best football betting offers ahead of the new season, we've got you covered.

Team analysis

After Brentford lost 3-1 against Nottingham Forest on the opening day of the season, no doubt fans were worried. However, their season couldn't have gone any better, despite just missing out on Europe.

Keith Andrews was appointed, taking up his first managerial role, yet the calculated risk paid off. With limited experience as backroom staff for both MK Dons and Sheffield United a club level, Andrew didn't have the CV normally associated with Premier League managers.

Yet at home, the Bees secured some huge wins against Man United, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Newcastle, while holding both Arsenal and Chelsea.

Even with a flurry a draws towards the end of the season, Brentford still had a better home record compared to Newcastle, Bournemouth as well as Chelsea. If they can build on that, and elevate their away form (12th), they have every chance of another successful season.

Andrews didn't waver from his 4-2-3-1 formation - whether home or away - last campaign and the Irish man may need to tinker those tactics if form on the road is to improve. However, with several new signings, they may give him the option to put together a plan B and C.

We've covered every Premier League club ahead of the new campaign and we will have our best football betting tips for free every week.

Key players

Several big names have joined the club during the off-season. Callum Wilson has joined on a free from West Ham, who will still be hopeful of offering quality in the final third at the age of 34.

Their biggest signing of the summer was Lens’ Mamadou Sangare for £45m. The Mali international arrives with big expectations after impressing in Ligue 1, who will directly replace Jordan Henderson who has moved to Chelsea.

Jannik Schuster has signed from Salzburg, while forward Jaidon Anthony has left Burnley to join Brentford’s project. A mix of youth and experience has helped to bulk Andrews' squad, and each new signing ticks plenty of boxes.

Perhaps Brentford's best business was keeping hold of Igor Thiago. The 25-year-old scored 22 Premier League goals last campaign in 38 appearances, and having failed to feature much at the World Cup, the Brazilian will hope to be fit and firing from round one.

The same could be said for Kevin Schade. The 24-year-old scored eight goals as well as three assists in the Premier League, while forward Dango Ouattara will be hoping to build on his seven goals after his move across from Bournemouth.

Season prediction

Brentford are priced at 11/8 to finish in the top 10 and that could well be a price worth taking. According to the market, the last couple of spots are between Newcastle, Everton, Bournemouth and Brentford, but there’s flaws with all three of those before Brentford comes into play.

Newcastle have lost their three best players and head coach, Everton’s squad hasn’t necessarily improved while Bournemouth have also lost their manager and will look to balance their Premier League campaign alongside Europe.

Brentford have strengthened their squad and with Igor Thiago leading the line, this is a squad more than capable of springing a surprise once more. A top 10 finish at odds-against could be a very clever bet come May.
