Leeds United 2026/27 Betting Preview

Publish Date: 13/08/2026
Fact checked by: Jordan Noble

Leeds United finished in 14th last season, eight points above the relegation zone, and Daniel Farke now has to find a way for his squad to improve. Last year it was all about survival, and Leeds won't want to be dragged into another relegation scrap, but what can the Yorkshire based club achieve this time round?

With a few key signings, it's safe to say Leeds have strengthened but have they done enough in the window to climb into the top 10? Or will they endure another tough season fighting at the wrong end of the table? Nathan Joyes investigates and provides his thoughts on Farke's squad ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.

Team analysis

At one point last season it looked as though Daniel Farke's days were numbered but a win against Chelsea at Elland Road saved his job and the German did enough to keep Leeds in the Premier League, albeit comfortably in the end.

However, what can he achieve this time round? On occasions, it can be trickier to rally the troops after a gruelling campaign and keep them fighting when other teams around them have strengthened.

Yet Leeds themselves have bolstered their squad. Although Pascal Struijk has moved to Brighton, Leeds have spent big securing the signatures of James Trafford from Man City for £35m, while also bringing in Sassuolo's Tarik Muharemovic, both in an effort to ship in less goals.

Their best deal, however, arrived on a free transfer. Leeds were able to convince Harry Wilson to leave Fulham and head north. The 29-year-old scored 10 Premier League goals last season, as well as chipping in with seven assists. His signature was perhaps the best deal they have done this summer.

Leeds, at times, lacked creativity and spark, and Wilson is proven at this level for a number of years now, and his addition will no doubt have pleased fans.

Only four teams conceded more than Leeds last season, which is why a new goalkeeper and centre back were at the top of their shopping list. With signatures done early within the window, Leeds are in a strong position to start the new campaign with a squad capable of staying out of the bottom three.

Key players

Leeds will once again turn towards Dominic Calvert-Lewin to produce the goods in front of goal. Last season, the 29-year-old bagged 14 in 35 Premier League appearances, and there was an outside shout for the striker to be on the plane for the World Cup. Farke knows how important he is to how they set up.

Both Noah Okafor and Lukas Nmecha weighed in with crucial goals, but Leeds will know that one of them will have to step up and support Calvert-Lewin for goals if they are to avoid being dragged into any kind of relegation scrap this season.

In the middle of the park, Ao Tanaka, Ethan Ampadu and Anton Stach will all have to come together to make sure Leeds aren't beaten in the middle of the park. Aside from Wilson, Farke hasn't added any new bodies in his midfield, although they are looking to secure at least one more player this window.

Season prediction

Leeds are 6/1 to be relegated and are one of the more livelier outsiders to be dragged into a relegation battle. Priced at 9/4 to finish inside the top 10, the bookmakers clearly don't fancy them to make an improvement on last campaign. Instead, it's clear to see that an 11th place finish or below looks more likely, currently priced at 1/3.

Farke has done an excellent job with Leeds thus far, but it doesn't look as though his side are going to challenge for Europe this season. Instead of backing Leeds to finish in the bottom half of the table at 1/3, I've once again turned towards their top goalscorer market.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the obvious shout, but his price at 4/11 also doesn't appeal. Although he scored 14 goals last season, he can be injury prone, which makes his price way too short. Instead, their latest signing, Harry Wilson, may be the best alternative angle at a massive 7/1.

The Welsh international scored 10 goals last campaign for Fulham, and a similar number puts him in the running here. If Calvert-Lewin doesn't get firing or picks up an injury, Wilson is Leeds' best chance at getting goals this season. Back him to be their top goalscorer.
