The first heavyweight clash between two genuine title contenders is in the books, and it was Arsenal who reminded Chelsea why they are champions with an impressive comeback victory over Xabi Alonso’s highly rated side.

Morgan Rogers put the Blues in front, but goals from former Chelsea forward Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard ensured Mikel Arteta’s men maintained their perfect start with three wins from three.

However, it is Manchester City who sit top of the pile after Erling Haaland earned them a 1-0 victory over Coventry City. The Sky Blues were far more competitive than many expected, though, generating 1.37 xG and missing three big chances at the Etihad.

Remarkably, the only team yet to concede in the top flight is Hull City, who added another point to their tally with a goalless draw against Aston Villa. It was Villa’s first point of the season, leaving them down in 17th, although they did triumph in Bruges in the Champions League in midweek.

Tottenham Hotspur are also still searching for their first victory, while Liverpool did get off the mark with a 2-0 win at Ipswich Town on Friday night, courtesy of an Alexander Isak double. The Swede was Premier League tipster Ben Smith’s selection to finish as the division’s top goalscorer in his outright preview.

Liverpool v Fulham - Liverpool to Win & Over 2.5 Goals (17/20)

Liverpool remain the most entertaining team to watch in the Premier League, combining a wealth of attacking talent and an aggressive philosophy with a lack of balance and a clear vulnerability defensively.

It was far too easy for Atletico Madrid to cut through their midfield and release Marcos Llorente for his goal on Wednesday night, and that has been the blueprint for hurting the Reds throughout the early weeks of the Premier League campaign.

They were 2-0 up within nine minutes against Ipswich and could play within themselves thereafter, but Newcastle and Nottingham Forest both had plenty of joy against them and Fulham may well get on the scoresheet here.

Even if they do not, this bet also covers a heavy Liverpool win, and that is well within the realms of possibility given Fulham’s defensive problems.

Tottenham Hotspur v Everton - Tottenham to Win (Evens)

Plenty has been made of Tottenham’s poor start to the season, but with wholesale changes to the squad and several players still missing through injury, I think it can be excused to some extent.

This, however, looks like a good opportunity for Spurs to finally put things right. Mohammed Kudus is a contender to make his first start since January after making his second appearance of the season from the bench at Forest, while Savinho and Omar Marmoush should now begin to settle in and make an impact.

Everton earned a point in spectacular fashion against Manchester United, but they cannot rely on strikes of that quality every week, and their starting XI ultimately still looks short of goals.

Sunderland v Arsenal - Arsenal to Win & Under 3.5 Goals (Evens)

Things have all gone to plan for Arsenal so far this term. They got the better of Manchester City in the Community Shield, have taken maximum points from their opening three league games and produced a perfect away performance in Naples on Wednesday.

All four victories have featured under 3.5 match goals, and that looks the most appealing angle for their trip to Sunderland.

Eight of the Gunners’ 11 away wins in the Premier League last term also went under 3.5 goals. They would have achieved exactly that at the Stadium of Light last November too were it not for Brian Brobbey’s stoppage-time equaliser.

Sunderland are not the most potent side in front of goal, and this has all the makings of another controlled Arsenal away win.

Manchester United v Manchester City - Erling Haaland to Score (Evens)

If Man City are going to sustain a serious title challenge this season, they will need to get the best out of Haaland. They have managed precisely that over the last three games in all competitions, with the Norwegian firing in five goals.

Haaland did not have much of a pre-season, so perhaps it simply took him a couple of weeks to get up to speed. The chance he missed against Bournemouth on the opening weekend is one he would ordinarily put away, but he is certainly firing now.

Since arriving at the Etihad, Haaland has scored in every City victory over Manchester United, netting eight goals in seven appearances in this fixture overall.

Leeds United v Newcastle United - Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals (20/21)

Newcastle have become a great watch under Matthias Jaissle, with their direct play and pace in wide areas helping them break forward quickly and purposefully.

Against a Leeds United side who like to play on the front foot, especially at home, the ingredients are there for an entertaining contest.

Each of these teams have scored in every game across all competitions so far this season.
