Nottingham Forest host league leaders at the City Ground on Tuesday night, who will be hoping to continue their incredible season and bridge the gap to just three points. Can Nuno Santo's side do the double over Liverpool?
It's becoming a memorable season for Nottingham Forest. Tipped by many to drop into the Championship after flirting with relegation since their arrival, instead they've proven everyone wrong and are firmly in the title race.
Whether bettors believe they can sustain this run of form is another question, but after six wins in a row, and four clean sheets, Tuesday night's clash against Liverpool is set up to be the game of the season.
Can Nuno work his magic once again? If they can beat Liverpool once more, they will be right behind them after 21 matches.
Arne Slot has had a flawless start to life at his new club. Collecting 46 points from 19 matches, they have the opportunity to almost put the title out of reach on Tuesday night. But let's not forget Forest's famous 1-0 win at Anfield earlier in the season - their only defeat at home in the Premier League this campaign.
In fact, it was Slot's only home defeat across 2024 as head coach. He's not let it go in following press conferences, and this is a game that he will want to win and make a statement to the rest of the league. Can he? It might not be as easy as the odds suggest.
This will be Liverpool's third trip to the City Ground since Forest's promotion back to the Premier League. The hosts famously beat the league leaders 1-0 in their first season back, before falling to a controversial 1-0 defeat last campaign. A 99th minute winner from Darwin Nunez stole a valuable point away from Forest, who scored from a free kick that should have gone in favour of the hosts.
Throw in Forest's 1-0 win at Anfield this campaign, these fixtures have put on entertaining shows for the neutral, but are often very tight when it comes to the scoring.
So, will this one be any different? It's difficult to argue against it. Both teams have conceded the least amount in the Premier League (19) and as previously mentioned, Forest head into this match with four clean sheets in a row to their name - and perhaps the pressure is off them compared to their opponents.
With little to split these two sides in the league, and with the hosts heading into the fixture in the form of their lives, will we see another famous night under the lights at the City Ground?
Forest's defence is as good as anyone's this season. A combination of Ola Aina, Murillo and Milenkovic in particular have been three of their most impressive players after 20 rounds, and at home, they've only conceded seven goals. Having kept Liverpool quiet in the reverse fixture, there's no need to fear their ruthless attack.
But it shouldn't be a case of sitting back and relying on their defence. Chris Wood has 12 Premier League goals to his name, while Morgan Gibbs-White has six goal contributions in his last six matches, who's continuing to improve rapidly in behind the Kiwi. Callum Hudson-Odoi is dangerous on the left wing, who scored the winner at Anfield, and his trademark cut in and shoot could once again be utilised.
However, this is Liverpool, and it would be foolish to dismiss their chances. Mo Salah has 18 Premier League goals to his name, and he's certainly enjoyed himself in recent wins against Spurs, Leicester and West Ham.
Yet a 2-2 draw with Man United and defeat to Spurs in the EFL Cup isn't the best form to head to Nottingham, and you can guarantee the atmosphere will be electric. Confidence is so high in the Forest camp, writing them off once again could be rather foolish.
With that in mind, bet365 are offering 11/4 on the draw, and it's an inviting price with so much at stake. Good luck if you're following.
