Fulham host Southampton this Sunday in the Premier League, where a win for Marco Silva's team could propel them into the top six if certain results fall their way. The Saints, on the other hand, are already nine points behind 17th place in Leicester heading into round 17.
After their disappointing 4-1 loss to Wolves at the back end of November, Fulham are enjoying a four match unbeaten run in December. With one win to their name - a convincing 3-1 victory against Brighton - Silva's side have drawn the other three matches.
However, points from Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool are all great results for the Cottagers, but they will count for nothing if they can't capitalise against lower-ranked opposition.
So far, Fulham have picked up 14 points from eight home matches, the same as Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Newcastle. But both Silva and his players will know they are capable of better.
Russell Martin was relieved from his managerial duties after Southampton were hammered 5-0 - at home - against Spurs. With just one win to their name from 16 matches, Southampton are on course to break Derby County's unwanted 13 point tally come May.
It'll take a miracle for the Saints to stay up this season, and as they head to the capital without a manager, it might get worse before it gets better. This may be another fixture Southampton have to draw a line through until they have a new head coach in charge.
Southampton fans won't be heading into this match with much confidence, and they have to go back to 2021 the last time they managed to beat Fulham. They've only met twice since, but both of those results have gone Fulham's way, scoring four goals and conceding just once.
The fact Southampton head into this match winless in their last seven, as well as six on the road - and only one point out of a possible 24 in the Premier League away from home. In short, it doesn't look good at all.
Fulham's home form has been hit and miss in recent weeks (W2 D2 L1). Two hammerings against Aston Villa and Wolves were perhaps unexpected, but wins against Brentford and Brighton - as well as a draw with Arsenal - are steps in the right direction.
Silva is reliant on Alex Iwobi and Raul Jimenez to get his team goals - who both have five apiece in the Premier League. Southampton have their work cut out trying to keep those two quiet on Sunday.
With Fulham aiming to break into the top six, and with Southampton rocking up to Craven Cottage without a manager, it could be a long afternoon for the Premier League's bottom-placed side.
Fulham continue to quietly go about their business in the Premier League without too many pundits talking about them - and that's exactly what Marco Silva will want to continue. However, one or two wins can see them easily sneak into the top six, and soon it'll be impossible to ignore their good form.
As mentioned, Iwobi and Jimenez have been their standout players, but the addition of Emile Smith-Rowe and the pace of Adama Traore on the other flank makes them a really dangerous side.
But you can't ignore their defence. Issa Diop and Calvin Bassey's centre-back relationship has blossomed in recent weeks, which is why they've picked up good points against top sides throughout December.
There's not much - if any - positivity coming out of Southampton's camp at present. Perhaps a new head coach is what they need, but it's going to take plenty of time for them to bounce back - and with 13 goals conceded and four defeats on the bounce, it's going to be a difficult trip to the capital.
With that in mind, Fulham are a short price to win. However, if we add in Alex Iwobi to have a shot on target, the hosts price is boosted to 5/4 with the bet365 bet builder option. The Nigerian is in good form, scoring three goals in his last three home games. Good luck to those who tail.
