My first tip at Romford comes in at 6:42. I'm going with Stormtrooper, who is drawn in trap 4. He's won three of his last four races, taking a step up in every run. He should handle the step up in grade. Last month, Stormtrooper secured back-to-back wins; he won by half a length but won his next race by just under three lengths, so he's on the up. His latest winning time of 24.32 seconds was impressive, while his opening sectional improved from 3.80 to 3.72 seconds between those wins.
His improvements from the traps have been much better, which is needed over 400 meters at Romford. Leading up the first bend could see him stay the trip and not get caught. I'm happy with the draw in trap 4; all three of his recent wins have come from that box. I think the main danger is Droopy's Granny, who recorded a fast time of 24.29 seconds last week at Romford. However, if Stormtrooper reproduces and improves on his recent performances, then I think he has every chance of completing the hat trick.
In the next at Romford, I’m sticking with trap 4. Easy Anna has won her last two races at Romford, which includes an impressive win on October 31st. She recorded 24.19 seconds over 400m, so I think she can step up to a higher level. Both of her recent wins come from trap 4, so the draw is positive. She is the most consistent dog in the race, and she should be able to reproduce her recent efforts against dogs competing at a higher level. If Easy Anna can break well, she looks capable of securing a third consecutive win.
In the 8.42, I'm siding with Gloriana, who comes out of Trap 1. Gloriana has excellent form at Romford, with five wins and nine top-three finishes from 18 runs over 400m. She has finished in the top two in each of her last four races. Her latest run was solid, finishing second to Gothic Doll on 27th October in 24.32 seconds. She recorded an opening sectional of 3.90 seconds that day, slightly slower than the 3.87 she produced when winning previously.
That suggests there is room for improvement at the start, which could make the difference here. She returns to Trap 1, the same draw she won from last month, and should be well positioned if she can hold the bend and turn left.
For my last tip, I'm going with Whitehartwinter, who runs in the A9 at 9.22. She's made a good start to her racing career, winning three of her first 11 starts at Romford. Whitehartwinter won by four and a half lengths on 17th October before following up with another win just six days later.
She was unable to complete the hat-trick last weekend but still ran well when finishing just half a length behind Holding Suzie. She's been consistent from the traps, and she's won well when given a clear run. She has only raced 11 times, but her recent form has been encouraging. Whitehartwinter has already won twice from Trap 1 and looks to have a good chance of winning again.
