For today’s article, I have tackled the Ayr Bronze Cup, which is a fantastic 24-runner Handicap with a prize pot of £40,000. The Bronze Cup is the perfect teaser for the Silver Cup and Gold Cup, both of which take place on Saturday.

The stars look to be aligning for Eye Of Dubai!
Eye Of Dubai looks ready to land a big Handicap and I think it might just be the Ayr Bronze Cup. I’ll break down the reasons why I believe that, and hopefully by the end of this article you’ll agree!
Back in July, Eye Of Dubai’s connections stressed that he needs cut in the ground. They admitted they had been tailoring his season towards the Great St Wilfrid Handicap in August, as he loves it at Ripon. They were also hoping that rain would fall in time for the race, but sadly it didn’t, and he was forced to compete on unsuitable Good going.
The much-needed rain has finally come, the official going at Ayr is now Soft, Good to Soft in places, and more showers are expected. Although the prize money isn’t as strong as it was for the Ripon race, there’s still £40,000 up for grabs. In addition, this is a lesser task than the Great St Wilfrid, and hopefully Eye Of Dubai can bounce back to his best and pick up a consolation prize for his connections.
Eye Of Dubai’s handicapped to strike off this reduced mark
If you look through his previous form, Eye Of Dubai has won four times during his career. The first of those victories was in a Novice Stakes race. The other three were in Handicap company, and came off marks of 84, 87 and 87, producing RPRs of 95, 97 and 95.
It’s been nearly a year since Eye Of Dubai’s last win, which was on 27 September 2025, and since then he has tumbled down the handicap. Officially, he is rated at 79, but he will run off 82 here because his recently revised mark wasn’t accounted for as the weights were finalised early.
Although he is officially 3lb wrong at the weights, he is still 5lb below his last winning mark, and he is more than capable of winning off this mark at his best. Interestingly, he ran in the Ayr Silver Cup last year off 5lb higher, where he finished in third place, and he has a much easier task this time around.
First time blinkers can help spark the comeback
Eye Of Dubai wore cheekpieces for the first time last summer, and they clearly did the trick, as he finished second at Ripon, beaten by just a head. Right away that shows he responds well to the addition of headgear, even when it’s applied for the first time.
Notably, he hasn’t worn any headgear for his last seven races, but tomorrow for the Ayr Bronze Cup, his trainers (John and Sean Quinn) have decided to apply blinkers for the first time. They’ve also booked Jason Hart to ride, and he is a jockey that knows how to win the Ayr Bronze Cup, having landed this race in 2022 with Danzan.
Have I picked out the Ayr Bronze Cup winner?
As highlighted, the key to Eye Of Dubai is the juice in the ground, and he gets that today. Due to the unusually dry conditions this year, Eye Of Dubai has tumbled down the ratings, and is now very well handicapped. To help him bounce back to his best form, his trainers have applied first time blinkers, and previous Ayr Bronze Cup winner Jason Hart takes the ride. On the flip side, Eye Of Dubai is on an eight-race losing streak, and his form figures for 2026 make pretty grim reading at 00800.
However, after weighing up both the positive and negative points, I think Eye Of Dubai is underestimated at odds of 14/1, especially so with six places on offer. As such, I think he looks like a fantastic each way bet, and, I’m staking 1pt each way here.
