It’s Haldon Gold Cup Day at Aintree today and we have some fantastic racing to sink our teeth into. The horse that interests me most runs in the finale, which is the 2m 1f Class 4 Handicap for horses rated 0-115. This outsider is available at 33/1 and I’m positive he can outrun his odds.
I’m the resident horse racing expert at Betting.co.uk, and I have been here since March 2025. I publish free horse racing tips every week as well as non-tipping content. My most recent article includes five horses to follow in November while another takes a look at some trainers to follow this month.
At the time of writing, the best horse racing odds of 33/1 are widely available across the market. However, Betsuna is offering that price and also has a fantastic welcome offer. If you bet £10 you’ll get a £50 free bet.. Make sure that you check out this new brand soon.
Sometimes you look at a horse and its price and it instantly feels wrong. That is the feeling I had with Rewired when looking through this Aintree racecard and seeing odds of 33/1 on offer. In this article, I’ll explain why I think they have the price wrong for this one.
Rewired has won fresh from a break previously. It was deeper into his last campaign (and his first race for trainer Tristan Davidson) that we saw him winning rather than first time out. To be precise, his two wins in the 2024/25 season came on his sixth and eighth runs.
Sadly, after Rewired’s run at Kelso in May 2025, we didn’t see him on the track for 472 days. However, he did eventually return at Carlisle in September 2026, finishing 7th over 1m. He then headed to Hamilton 12 days later over 1m 4f, finishing 11th. I’d forgive both of those runs with the former being over an inadequate trip and the latter coming on unsuitably soft going. With a third run coming over Hurdles at Sedgefield last month, he should be cherry ripe here.
Rewired's latest run at Sedgefield was in a Class 3 (0-140) Handicap, making it a tough task for him. But on the bright side, that run saw him drop 2lb in the handicap from 114 to 112. His last two runs over Hurdles were in Class 2 and Class 3 races, but he returns to Class 4 (0-115) company today. This looks much more suitable for him, as he hsd a fantastic record at this level, with seven wins (50%) and six places from just 14 runs.
Robert Dunne has been booked for the ride today. Robert hasn't ridden Rewired in a race previously, so we don't have much to go on there. However, he has ridden for Tristan Davidson before, producing two wins, two third places and one fifth place from just five rides.
Rewired has had just the one run at Aintree to date, which was back in April 2024He finished in sixth place, beaten by just 5.5 lengths. That was a tough Class 2 Handicap where he was sent off 50/1, so expectations would have been low and yet he ran a very solid race. That just shows that he handles this track and a repeat of that RPR or his latest win, will find him very competitive here. His trainer - Tristan Davidson, has produced two winners within the last fortnight and they say that things come in threes!
Whilst it is easy to say that Rewired should be a 33/1 shot, especially with his recent form figures, I think he is overpriced judged on his best form. Rewired is race fit after three runs and drops down from Class 2 to Class 4 company here and when doing so, he has 7 wins and 6 places from just 14 runs. His trainer, Tristan Davidson has produced two winners in the past fortnight and Robert Dunne has a record of two wins and three places from just five runs for the trainer.
There are two main challenges today that Rewired has to overcome. Firstly he needs to bounce back to the form he was in prior to his lengthy spell on the sidelines. Secondly, he has drifted from 22/1 to 33/1 for today’s race (16:05) .
Overall, I think Rewired is overpriced at odds of 33/1 this morning and I feel that he can outrun those generous odds!
