Whilst the Premier League is on hiatus this weekend, the EFL Championship continues with plenty of important fixtures at both ends of the table. For today’s betting tip, we’ll be focusing on the important matchup between Hull City and Swansea City at the MKM Stadium.
Hull City are in a time of transition. They are under new ownership as Acun Ilicali confirmed the purchase of the club, and this has sparked a turnaround in form. They picked up six points from six against Blackburn and Bournemouth in their last two fixtures, and they’ll look to make it three consecutive wins against Swansea.
However, question marks remain over the manager. Grant McCann is rumoured to be replaced by Shota Arveladze this week, and Saturday may be the Georgian’s first game in charge.
As for Swansea, they have managed to turn around three-straight defeats to four points from six. They secured an away draw with Huddersfield, before beating fellow strugglers Preston North End at the Liberty Stadium.
Fortunately for Russel Martin, he has no injury or suspension worries for the upcoming fixture with Hull City. The Swans do play a midweek fixture with Queens Park Rangers, but barring disaster, Swansea should have a fully fit side to play the Tigers.
Saturday’s fixture could be viewed as a must-win for both sides. Swansea are 12 points clear of the drop zone, but a win over Hull City on Saturday, and the Swans could start looking forward rather than behind their shoulder.
Hull City, on the other hand, could leapfrog Swansea City with a victory on Saturday. A win would place a 13 point buffer between themselves and the relegation zone.
On a head-to-head basis, the sides are evenly matched. The majority have ended as draws - including a thrilling 4-4 draw at the MKM in 2020 - but goals seem a certainty (despite their 0-0 draw earlier in the campaign).
Hull City have a special aura at the moment. With the new owner and the rumours of potential incomings, we think the Tigers make it three-straight victories and ease their relegation worries. This result is currently at 7/5 with UniBet.
