The Premier League continues this weekend with a crucial six-pointer at the bottom end of the table. For today’s betting tip, we’ll be focusing on the important matchup between Leeds United and Newcastle United at Elland Road.
After a poor start to the Premier League campaign, Leeds United have slowly eased themselves out of immediate danger. They picked up a shock victory against West Ham United in their last fixture and they now sit nine points clear of the drop zone.
They’ve managed to secure back-to-back wins with a crippled squad. Both injuries and COVID decimated Bielsa’s side but they are getting results. Ten players still remain out, including Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips, and Tyler Roberts.
Whilst back-to-back victories have helped Leeds United ease their relegation fears, Newcastle's consecutive draws hasn’t helped their case for survival. They added Chris Wood to their ranks last week and he may be the vital addition in Eddie Howe’s quest for victories.
They are also dealing with a few injuries. Striker Callum Wilson has been ruled out until March, leaving the goalscoring predominantly to Allan Saint-Maximin. Whereas Isaac Hayden, Jamal Lewis, and Federico Fernandez’s absence leaves the Magpies weakened in midfield and defence.
Both teams enter this fixture at the wrong end of the Premier League. Despite Leeds United’s back-to-back wins, they could go one step closer to safety with a win over the Toon Army.
As for Newcastle, every game is a must win in their current situation. They’ll take confidence in the 1-1 draw they achieved in the first fixture between these sides, but they’ll look to go one better on Saturday and pick up all three points.
Newcastle have the chance to drag Leeds United back into the relegation scrap with a win on the weekend. Whereas Leeds United can extend the gap to 12 points with a victory and almost confirm another year of Premier League football - barring disaster.
This is a tough one to call. Therefore, we are predicting both teams to score and over 2.5 goals rather than a result. This is 5/6 with Novibet.
