When the fixtures were released back in June, no one would have envisaged that the game between Leicester City and Manchester City would feature two teams that are struggling for any kind of form.
Leicester City dropped into the bottom three on Boxing Day after they failed to beat Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers defeated Manchester United.
Without being too harsh they will find it very difficult to pull themselves out of that drop zone, although they started very well against Liverpool - taking the lead inside the first 10 minutes.
They could not keep hold of that lead as they conceded a goal just before half time and went on to ship in two more goals as they crashed to a 3-1 loss.
That defeat made it three Premier League losses in a row, with their last victory coming on December 3 when they beat West Ham United 3-1.
Jamie Vardy missed the trip to Anfield after picking up a knock in training, it has not yet been confirmed what the injury is and how long the former England international will be out of action.
Jordan Ayew misses the game through suspension after accumulating too many booking points. Wilf Ndidi will have his hamstring problem assessed before kick-off, while Ricardo Pereira and Abdul Fatawu are still long-term casualties.
A lot of pundits and supporters alike are revelling in what is happening at Manchester City this season.
It might seem harsh, but when you have won four Premier League titles in succession, any dip in form will be cheered from the rafters.
They have not won a league match since they beat Nottingham Forest on December 4 and their last win before that was on October 26 when they defeated Southampton.
They have won one of their last four Premier League games, but they did halt a two-game losing streak on Boxing Day as they drew 1-1 at home with Everton.
They look like a team low on confidence, we didn’t have any faith in Erling Haaland scoring his penalty against The Toffees. How crazy is that? How you can not back Haaland to score from 12 yards - but we were right and he had his spot kick saved by Jordan Pickford.
City do have injury problems, but so do a lot of teams who have put together a squad on far less money than the defending champions.
John Stones is still struggling with a foot injury, while Matheus Nunes, Ederson, Ruben Dias, Oscar Bobb and Rodri will miss the game in Leicester City.
Manchester City have picked up 44 wins from their 90 games over the years, while Leicester City have won 28 with 18 draws.
Man City have won four successive games against the Foxes with their last meeting ending in a 3-1 success in April with Stones opening the scoring before Haaland bagged a brace.
Leicester last beat Man City in August 2021 when the Foxes won 1-0 in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium with Kelechi Iheanacho scoring a last minute penalty.
Their last victory in the Premier League took place in 2018 with a 2-1 win on home soil, so they will feel they are due three points against City.
Leicester City are currently down in 18th position on the Premier League ladder with 14 points thanks to just three wins and five draws.
Man City are in seventh place with 28 points and have now fallen 14 points behind league leaders Liverpool.
Manchester City’s poor form has to end sometime. There is no way they can continue to produce the kind of performances and results they have been.
We have a feeling that they will hammer some team soon, and it could happen on Sunday against Leicester City.
Leicester City are clear outsiders to win this game and can be backed at 13/2 with Bet365. The odds on Man City winning is 4/11 with the draw on offer at 9/2.
England international Phil Foden has not had the best of campaigns in 2024, but on his day he is still one of the best attacking midfielders in the country.
Foden might have only scored one Premier League goal all season - that coming in a recent 2-1 defeat away at Aston Villa.
He has looked lethargic and not up to speed since returning from the Euros, but he is capable of hitting top form in a moment's notice.
We are backing him to be the one that drags Manchester City out of this slump. He knows what it means to play for the club and if he puts in a strong performance, the crowd will lift and that could help the team improve.
If Foden managed to get the first goal in the opening 15 minutes, the away fans would be buzzing and that could quickly change City’s fortunes.
We are hedging our bets with when he scores, so we are backing Foden to score at anytime along with City running out comfortable 3-0 winners.
