Leicester City will be looking to maintain momentum when they welcome Southampton to the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening for what should be an entertaining Premier League encounter.  

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers will have been pleased with the way that the Foxes brushed aside Championship side Stoke City 4-0 in the third round of the FA Cup last week. That win followed on the back of four unbeaten Premier League games with City now in third place in the league table. Three of those four games were away from home, with vital wins coming at Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Saints last played on January 4, when they shocked defending champions Liverpool with a 1-0 win at St Mary’s. They didn’t play in the FA Cup last weekend as opponents Shrewsbury Town were forced to forfeit the tie due to an outbreak of Covid-19. The Saints’ previous two games were both goalless draws, away at Fulham and at home to West Ham United. They are now sitting in sixth place in the Premier League table.

Two out of the last three Premier League meetings between these two sides have ended in 2-1 wins for Southampton at the King Power Stadium. In the middle of those two results, though, is a 9-0 win for City at St Mary’s in October 2019.
