Leicester City return to the Premier League after gaining promotion from the Championship as champions. They welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the King Power Stadium on Monday with Ange Postecoglou hoping to turn Spurs into genuine title contenders.
Leicester City spent just one season outside the Premier League after they were relegated at the end of the 2022-23 season.
Enzo Maresca took over as manager for the Championship campaign and he managed to keep hold of the likes of Jamie Vardy, Marc Albrighton and Kelechi Iheanacho, as well as signing Harry Winks, Conor Coady and Mads Hermansen.
Maresca has since left to take over at Chelsea, but Steve Cooper is now in charge and with Abdul Fatawu, Bobby Decordova-Reid and Michael Golding among their new signings, they will be hoping to avoid relegation back to the Championship.
Tottenham Hotspur fans are getting tired of being ridiculed about not winning major trophies. Could this be the year they win their first trophy since winning the League Cup in 2008?
Postecoglou is a good manager and he will be hoping the rest James Maddison had by not going to Euro 2024 will see him start the new campaign in top form.
Spurs have just spent a lot of money to bring Dominic Solanke to the club from Bournemouth. Time will tell if he is the man to score the goals that Harry Kane used to score.
They have signed youngster Archie Gray from Leeds United. He is tipped to have a bright future, but whether he gets many chances this season remains to be seen.
It is difficult to predict how teams will perform at the start of the season, it is a feeling put process for all 20 teams.
History has shown that there will be a lot of goals scored in this fixture. In the last five meetings between the Foxes and Spurs there have been 28 goals scored. Leicester have scored 11 with Tottenham finding the back of the net 17 times.
This game never seems to end in a goalless draw, so hopefully that continues and we see plenty of action in both penalty areas.
If Tottenham Hotspur fail to beat Leicester City, everyone will come out of the woodwork and say that Spurs will not win another trophy. I am not sure any other times gets put under this kind of scrutiny for failing to win silverware.
There always seems to be a shock result on the opening weekend of the Premier League season. Could it be the Foxes?
There will be a party atmosphere at the King Power Stadium following Leicester City’s return to the Premier League, but Spurs and Solanke will be the party poopers.
Son Heung-Min and Richarlison might have scored 28 goals between them last season, but they need a player to score the amount of goals that former captain Kane used to put away.
Only time will tell if Solanke is that man.
It has been reported that Spurs have paid £55 million with a further £10 million in add-ons for the striker from Bournemouth, but is he the prolific striker Tottenham Hotspur desperately need?
I am giving him the benefit of the doubt for the first few games. He will be desperate to impress and get on the score sheet as quickly as possible.
I am backing him to get his Spurs career off to a great start by finding the back of the net with Tottenham Hotspur grabbing three vital away points. Back Solanke to score and Spurs win at 24/5 with William Hill.
