The Premier League returns this weekend after the FA Cup was the focal point last weekend. Both Leicester City and West Ham United suffered different fates in the FA Cup, but they meet this weekend in a must-win clash at the King Power Stadium. 

Leicester City just cannot get it right in the 2021/22 season. The Foxes poor run of form continued with a dismal defeat to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup last weekend and they have only won one in their last four (written before the Liverpool game).

The achilles heel of Leicester City is their defence. They’ve conceded eight goals in the last three games, and their defensive injuries are hampering their league form. Both Ryan Bertrand, and Jonny Evans are lengthy absences due to injury, however, their defensive ranks could be bolstered soon by the return of Wesley Fofana.

West Ham United ended their two-game Premier League skid with a victory over Watford in midweek. The Hammers leapfrogged Manchester United back into the top four, and a win over Leicester could create a cushion for David Moyes’ side this weekend.

Unlike Leicester City, West Ham aren’t dealing with a mountain of injuries. The two injury sacres they have are defensively - Angelo Ogbona and Arthur Masuaku aren’t set to return due to their respective knee injuries.

The history of this fixture is a tale of two halves. When Leicester City first got promoted, they enjoyed a successful win percentage over the Hammers. In the first eight fixtures between the two, Leicester only lost once, winning five, and the teams sharing the points on two occasions.

However, since 2017 , West Ham have had the better of the Foxes. In the last three fixtures between the two, David Moyes’ side have outscored Leicester by a ratio of 10-3, and based on form they could repeat that feat this weekend.
