Having just regained their form Liverpool host high flying Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday in the biggest showdown so far of the Premier League season.
Following a very poor start to 2021 by their standards, Liverpool have found some form with back-to-back 3-1 away wins in London. This has come just at the right time, with Man City waiting on the near horizon. The squad has been strengthened by deadline day defensive signings of Ben Davies and Kabak, while Mo Salah has rediscovered his keen eye for goal.
Manchester City are continuing to establish themselves as an unstoppable force in the Premier League, having won all of their games this year and then some. Their 1-0 win over a resilient Sheffield United a the weekend wasn't an easy watch, however Pep will be happy that the single goal was provided by Gabriel Jesus. For all of their recent dominance, the one thing Manchester City have been lacking is a target man to replace Aguero.
The two sides shared the spoils last time out in a 1-1 draw at the Etihad, and we could see both coaches taking a similar approach this time around, despite a reverse in fortune for the teams. Pep's last win over Liverpool was a 4-0 win at the Etihad in July, but we can't look into that too much as Liverpool had won the league ahead of the match and Andy Robertson was most likely still drunk.
If Liverpool's poor form had continued, we wouldn't hold out much hope for them, however their upturn in form means they should give Manchester City a contest. Both managers will ebb on the side of caution again, therefore we're backing a draw at odds of 5/2 with Bet365.
