The Premier League continues this weekend, with a fixture between two teams that have been preoccupied with the FA Cup during midweek. For today’s betting tip, we are focusing on the match between Liverpool and West Ham United at Anfield.
Liverpool return to Premier League action against West Ham United this weekend after a week-long hiatus. The Reds were victorious in last weekend’s EFL cup final to Chelsea, and they’ll be a step closer to an FA Cup final if they can make it past Norwich in midweek.
But away from the cup competitions. Liverpool have clawed themselves to within six-points of Manchester City (one game in hand), and a win against West Ham could narrow the gap even further. Unfortunately, Thiago picked up an injury in the pregame warmups last Sunday, and he will be absent against West Ham.
West Ham snapped their run of consecutive draws when they beat fellow European competitors Wolves last weekend. David Moyes’ side ran out narrow 1-0 victors at the London Stadium, cementing another week in fifth place for the Hammers.
But the absences are piling up for Moyes’ men. Both right backs, Vladimir Coufal and Ryan Fredericks, remain on the injury table, central defender Angelo Ogbonna is nursing a knee injury, and Andriy Yarmolenko is taking some time away from the football pitch due to the current war in Ukraine.
West Ham United are one of only two teams to beat Liverpool this season. The Hammers handed Jurgen Klopp’s side its first loss of the campaign when they managed to come out 3-2 winners back in November. It will be a long-shot for them to recreate the heroics of Kurt Zouma’s late winner.
The recreation seems unlikely due to Liverpool’s domination prior to November’s fixture. Before then, they hadn’t lost a game to West Ham United since 2016, scoring three or more goals against the Hammers in six of the last nine.

These two seem to always play out entertaining fixtures. They’ve had two 3-2 finishes in the last four meetings between them both, and we expect the goalscoring to continue in a Liverpool victory. Overall, we say Liverpool win the game, and over 2.5 goals with BetUK at 173/100
