The Premier League season comes to a close on Sunday with Liverpool taking on Wolves at Anfield with the Reds aiming to send Jurgen Klopp off with a win.
Both teams having nothing to play for with Liverpool unable to win the league and safe in the Champions League places, while Wolves cannot get relegated and cannot qualify for Europe.
Jurgen Klopp will bid an emotional farewell to Anfield on Sunday in his final match as Liverpool manager after a successful eight and half years in charge.
Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes went up in smoke last month when they lost 2-0 against fierce rivals Everton at Goodison Park. That defeat meant it was left to Manchester City and Arsenal to fight it out to become champions.
Since that loss, they have won one game and drawn two. The defeat to the Toffees looked to have knocked the fight out of the Reds, but they will be aiming to end on a high for Klopp who delivered them their first ever Premier League title in the 2019/2020 season.
The Reds will be without Andy Robertson, Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip through injury.
Wolves are never going to be contenders to win the Premier League. That is not being harsh, it’s just being realistic.
They might never be champion material, but they have the opportunity to become a mainstay in the Premier League. Since their last promotion in 2017-18, Wolves have punched above their weight and attracted big names to the club and look settled in the top flight.
Their recent form has not been great, but they have not been in danger of being relegated. Wolves have won just one of their last five Premier League matches.
Pedro Neto, Craig Dawson and Leon Chiwome are all out injured for the final match of the campaign.
The head-to-head meetings between Liverpool and Wolves are not as one-sided as you would think, Out of 97 meetings, the Reds have won 52 with the Wanderers claiming 30 of them.
These two met earlier in the season in September at Molineux with Liverpool running out 3-1 winners.
Liverpool have won five of their last seven meetings with Wolves, with one draw and one defeat.
Wolves have not beaten Liverpool at Anfield since knocking them out of the FA Cup in 2017. Their last league win in Merseyside was in 2010 when Stephen Ward scored the only goal in a 1-0 win.
There is nothing much to play for in this game, but Liverpool fans would love to see Klopp go out with a victory. In 2015, Stoke City spoiled Reds legend Steven Gerrard’s final game for the club with a 6-1 defeat, can Wolves do the same to Klopp? Take a look at the key stats and best betting odds ahead of the game between Liverpool and Wolves.
Our Betting Tip for Today- Darwin Nunez to score 2 or more goals - 3/1 @ Bet365
Liverpool are clear favourites to end the season with a victory, They can be backed at 1/6. Wolves are on offer at 14/1 with the draw on offer at 7/1.
Since joining the club from Benfica, Darwin Nunez has come in for a lot of criticism over his performances in front of goal.
The Uruguay international cost €75 million and was expected to bang in all the goals up front alongside Mohamed Salah. The fact is, he has only scored 20 league goals in just under two seasons.
That is not a good return for such a lot of money. A lot of Liverpool fans love his work ethic, but they would much rather he scored from the many chances he creates.
His last Premier League goal was last month against Sheffield United in a 3-1 one. He has since gone seven league goals without a goal and nine in all competitions.
We are backing him to finally repay the faith Klopp has shown in him by scoring at least a brace at Anfield. He has only scored two goals in one game once in the Premier League this season, so Sunday would be the perfect time to get his second.
