The first Super Sunday back after the March international break as Manchester City welcome Arsenal to the Etihad in what is a mouth-watering clash in the battle for the Premier League title.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side are veterans when it comes to title races and that has showed on several occasions this season.
The champions currently find themselves on an incredible run of 22 games unbeaten in all competitions and are embroiled in a brilliant title race alongside Sunday’s opponents Arsenal and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
The Citizens have been relentless at home this season, and alongside Liverpool, are one of two teams yet to taste defeat on home soil. They have picked up an incredible 34 points from a possible 42 and that home record will undoubtedly have an impact on where the title ends up.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side have been on a tremendous run in the Premier League in 2024 as the Gunners have won eight from eight in the league in the new calendar year.
There was a point before Christmas in which Arsenal were near enough ruled out of the title race but the North London side have turned their fortunes around and now sits top of the table.
The Gunners boast the joint-best away record in the Premier League alongside Sunday’s opponents Man City. Arsenal also have netted the most goals in the league this season and have been lethal in front of goal in 2023/24.
In recent times in the Premier League, these two sides have played out some thrilling encounters. Despite Arsenal winning the most recent meeting between the teams at the Emirates in October, it is Manchester City who have been the dominant force when these two teams face off.
That win earlier in the season was the first time Arsenal have beaten City in the league since way back in 2015, thus highlighting the Citizens’ domination in the fixture. The last five league games between the sides have seen plenty of goals, with 18 netted for a total average of 3.6 goals per game.
Sunday’s game will be an incredible one from a neutral point of view but it is incredibly hard to look past Manchester City triumphing on home soil. With City one of two sides still unbeaten at home, they are well equipped to continue that run.
As has been mentioned above, City have been incredible at the Etihad this season and are one of the hardest teams in Europe to beat at home.
Pep Guardiola’s side are a fantastically well-oiled machine and tends to dominate any side that comes their way. However, Sunday’s game will be no walk in the park with the current league leaders aiming to extend the gap between them and City and give them some breathing room at the top of the table.
It is far too hard to look past Man City coming away with all three points in this one. On Bet 365, a Man City win is currently being priced at good odds of 1.90 and could end up being well worth a punt. Despite the Gunners having a solid away record in the league this season, City are just too good at home and the Etihad has not been a happy hunting ground for Arsenal in recent times. A City win looks to be the go-to for this one.
