Manchester City and Spurs face off at the Etihad in a game that always promises to be exciting. Pep Guardiola’s side are second in the league, as the Citizen’s aim to win a record breaking fourth Premier League title in a row. After a strong start, Ange Postecoglu’s Spurs side have stuttered, losing three games on the trot due to an injury and suspension crisis.
Manchester City have seen themselves draw two games on the bounce from winning positions in recent weeks. They drew 4-4 with Chelsea in a thrilling encounter, and missed out on three points after a late Trent Alexander-Arnold equaliser last weekend against Liverpool.
Before those games, they had convincing wins against Brighton, Man United and Bournemouth to fire them to the top of the Premier League, but now sit in second, a point behind front runners Arsenal.
Star man Erling Haaland has been in fine form as usual, scoring six in his last five, and will certainly be the main point in attack for City, giving Spurs all sorts of trouble.
Tottenham found themselves at the top of the league just a month ago, but they have suffered three defeats in a row, losing 4-1 to Chelsea, 2-1 to Wolves and Aston Villa respectfully.
They will be without some key players, James Maddison, Christian Romero, Micky Van De Ven, Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur would all be expected to be playing in this match but will miss out due to either injury or suspension.
Without these players, there are limited options, especially at the back, where they may need the likes of Ben Davies and Eric Dier to fill in at centre back. With the players missing and their recent form, this will be very tough for Spurs.
In the last few seasons, Tottenham have had some very successful games against Man City. In their last seven fixtures, Spurs have come out as winners five times, with Manchester City only winning twice. The last time the two sides met at City’s ground, they ran away 4-2 winners, with goals from Julian Alarez, Erling Haaland and a brace from the now departed Riyad Mahrez.
The game always promises goals, in the last five league meetings there has been an average of over three goals a game, and this could certainly follow the same trend.
Man City have had a rather poor start to the season then they would’ve liked. They sit in second behind Arsenal. Spurs’ recent form with three losses on the bounce couldn’t come at a worser time as they travel to the Etihad. In the recent fixtures, it is very even, and certainly a game that produces goals.
Our Betting Tip for Today- Manchester City -1.5, -2.0 Asian Handicap-
In this matchup, the head-to-head is very even, because of some of Spurs’ absentees and their recent form, Man City should have no problem dispatching them and coming away winners.
Spurs’ start to the season couldn’t have been any better, manager Ange Postecoglou was voted manager of the month three times in a row, and they found themselves amongst the top teams in the league. However, they have suffered three defeats in a row after losing some key players such as James Maddison and Cristian Romero and now find themselves in 5th spot.
As for last season’s treble winning City side, the start has been good, but not as great as they may have wanted, suffering defeats to Wolves and Arsenal in October. They’ve also drawn their last two fixtures to Chelsea and Liverpool but will still be expecting all three points at home on Sunday.
Bet365 has Manchester City winning at odds of 1.28, and they are so short for good reason, as Man City should be bouncing back and beating an injury riddled Spurs side. Siding with the Manchester City -1.5, -2.0 asian handicap presents value.
