Our feature fixture for this tip is another Guardiola vs Mourinho classic, as Man City host Tottenham at the Etihad on Saturday evening.
City’s unstoppable run continued as they eased passed Liverpool in the end to grab their first win at Anfield in nearly 18 years. Phil Foden was phenomenal and will likely start again this weekend, with brace-bagging Gundogan also impressing as he has done of late. In their midweek FA Cup tie, Jesus and Sterling were both on the scoresheet. It looks like it’s a case of no Aguero, no problem for Pep.
Things haven’t been rosey of late in the Spurs camp - they had lost three games on the bounce prior to beating West brom at the weekend. Wednesday’s midweek outing against Everton was an FA Cup classic that Spurs lost out on in game that saw Mourinho both conceded and score four in the same game for the first time. Kane did come on as a sub to link up with Son for a goal though.
Mourinho has won both of his matches again st Guardiola’s City 2-0 since taking charge of Spurs. An impressive stat when you consider how inconsistent his Spurs side have been. Mourinho has, however yet to come to the Etihad as Tottenham manager and this is the best form city have been in by far since Jose took charge in North London back in late 2019 - so expect things to be different this time around.
Despite the last two results, everything points to a City win here, perhaps a relatively easy one. However with Harry Kane back in the mix we’re confident that Spurs will grab a goal on the counter attack at some point.
