We’re bringing you an unlikely top four clash between Manchester City and West Ham at the Etihad for the Saturday lunch time kick-off
Pep’s Manchester City are in unstoppable form, as they’ve now notched up 19 wins in a row, having gone 26 games unbeaten - dating back to that Spurs loss in late November. The defensive solidity brought by the resurgence of John Stones, the signing of Ruben Dias and the strong performances of Joao Cancelo has been key. Pep’s side haven’t conceded more than a single goal in one game since that November 2-0 loss to Spurs.
West Ham have exceeded all expectation this season and reminded us that David Moyes was once a solid and reputable couch before his Manchester United disaster. Recruitment has played a key part, as bargain shopping in the Czech league has paid off with Soucek and the loan signing of Lingard in January was undoubtedly the best bit of business done in the winter window - we can expect both to start at the Etihad on Saturday.
Unsurprisingly, West Ham haven’t had much joy at all in this fixture - though they did manage to draw the reverse fixture in London back in October, one of the strong early results of this resurgent era for the Hammers. Last season, however the Iron’s enjoyed a thorough spanking at the hands of an off-the-pace City side, losing 2-0 away and 5-0 at home. West Ham are an improved side this time around, but so are City.
Our betting tip for this fixture is to back a Manchester City win by two goals at odds of 3/1 with bet365. They have won three of their last five by that margin, the Hammers, while good, don’t look like they have enough to cause an upset.
