Manchester United still have ambitions of qualifying for the Champions League next season as they look to end a run of two consecutive Premier League defeats.
Everton, on the other hand, received a massive boost recently in their quest to avoid the drop as they were handed back four points from their initial 10-point deduction.
The Red Devils looked to be hitting some for as they won four consecutive league matches. That little run ended at Old Trafford against Fulham before being turned over by champions Manchester City in the derby.
United are in sixth position on the league standings, but another run of four or five wins could see them back in the mix as the season hits the business end.
England international Marcus Rashford will be hoping to prove his fitness and start against Everton after going off with a niggle against City. Central defenders Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire are both injury doubts, while Rasmus Hoilund is still at least a week away after picking up a muscle problem.
Gaining some points back has helped Everton in their battle against relegation, but they are far from safe.
The Blues are now 16th on the ladder with 25 points and are only five points clear of Luton Town in the third and final relegation place.
Getting those points back will count for nothing if they cannot pick up more wins. They have not won in the league since beating Burnley before Christmas.
Idrissa Gueye looks set to miss out at Old Trafford with manager Sean Dyche saying he is not 100% fit following a groin problem. Arnaut Danjuma will miss the game, while former England international Dele Alli is still not available.
Head to Head
Both Manchester United and Everton have been in the top flight for a number of years, so they will have met numerous times.
The Red Devils have 89 victories from 192 encounters with 55 of them wins coming at the Theatre of Dreams.
Manchester United have already beaten the Toffees this season with a convincing 3-0 win in November. Everton last beat United in 2022.
They have not won at Old Trafford since 2013 when Bryan Oviedo scored the winner in the 86th minute.
To lose three Premier League matches in succession – and two of them at Old Trafford – would be unthinkable for Erik Ten Hag’s side. They must win at all costs. Everton have failed to win in the league in their last 10 attempts. They need to start picking up maximum points if they are to move far away from the drop zone. Take a look at the stats regarding the game and the best betting odds before kick-off.
Our Betting Tip for Today- Marcus Rashford to score first & United to win – 7/1 @ Bet365
Manchester United are the clear favourites to win at Old Trafford and can be backed at 5/6. The Toffees are 3/1 outsiders with the draw available at 13/5.
Up until their past two matches, United looked in decent form and favourites to finish fourth ahead of the likes of Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.
Striker Hojlund was scoring goals for fun with seven goals in seven league matches. He has missed the last two matches and that has been evident. United need to rely on others to get the goals.
That pressure will fall on Rashford. He scored the opener against City before going off injured. He is expected to start against Everton and will need to be on top form to get the points for United and prove to everyone he can still perform at the highest level.
I am backing Rashford to shine and guide the Red Devils to victory and keep their Champions League dream alive.
