Manchester United play hosts to Fulham this weekend and I think this is going to be a closer game than what the bookies are giving it credit for. Manchester United have opened up at 4/7 to get a result against Fulham whilst the away side are 17/4 to take the 3 points and you can get 16/5 for the draw which looks quite tempting to me.
It’s an important stage of the season and both teams will fancy their chances this week and I actually think they play similar football too. This could be an interesting game to watch and I have a betting suggestion to get stuck into but first, let's see what both teams have to offer.
Manchester United are flying at the moment and are looking to make it 5 wins in a row with victory over Fulham here. They may not play the best looking football you have ever seen but United are grinding out wins when needed and they are starting to look like a much more compact team on the pitch in the last few weeks. They will definitely be hard to beat at home but they have been vulnerable in defence still and that is their potential downfall this weekend.
Fulham may find themselves in the bottom half of the table but I really like the type of football they play and that does give them a chance this week against a Manchester United defence that has been vulnerable. What I like about Fulham is that they are good on the counter attack and they are willing to take risks to gain an attacking position and they shouldn’t be overlooked in this fixture. It is going to be a tough game for them, but they offer enough attacking options to cause United problems this weekend.
The head to heads are heavily in favour of Manchester United who are undefeated against Fulham since 2009. This wouldn’t exactly look good for Fulham on paper, but on the pitch both teams are playing good football and I think you have to make your prediction based on more recent form which makes them both closer than what the betting and the head to head results suggest.
It’s a really interesting game to weigh up because all of the stats point towards Manchester United but if you take a close look at how both teams have played this year, I would definitely give Fulham a chance of taking something from this game. Manchester United are definitely the right favourites, but I wouldn't say they are banker material by any means this weekend.
After taking a look at both of the teams I think it could be worth taking Manchester United despite the home team looking to make it 5 wins in a row. I think they are the right favourites on paper, but I give Fulham a chance here with their style of football and they are going to cause Manchester United plenty of problems. I am going to use the outright market to make my selection this week.
Manchester United have been in really good form in recent weeks and they will be coming into this game full of confidence on Saturday. The problem I have with them here though is how vulnerable they have been in defence, they have looked far from convincing. Fulham have started to find plenty of attacking options and I think they are going to create plenty of chances on the counter attack, and it has been quite effective at times this season and against Manchester United’s back four, I can see Fulham getting on the scoresheet.
The difficulty I think Fulham have in trying to take all 3 points though is that Manchester United have become very good at grinding out results and I don’t think Fulham will be able to keep a clean sheet, but equally I find it hard to see them outsourcing Manchester United. I would see a draw being the most likely outcome and I am happy to take the 16/5. I think Fulham are being underestimated by the bookies this week.
