Newcastle United welcome Arsenal to St James Park for the late kick off on Saturday and this is going to be a very high level game of football. Ladbrokes have opened with Newcastle as your 7/4 underdogs at home, whilst Arsenal are your 6/4 favourites to take all three points on their visit to the Toon and it’s not surprising that these two teams have opened up close in the betting.
Arsenal finished runners up last season and have started this year just as strong and Newcastle have also looked a much improved outfit and should not be underestimated. We are in for a treat this weekend and I have some betting tips to get stuck into but first off, let’s take a look at both teams.
Newcastle have been playing some really good football this season and are seemingly playing better as the season progresses. They sit in 6th currently and have become a very tough side to beat. In their last five games they have drawn two both away from home to Wolves and West Ham, but they have been emphatic in victory with the last wins ending 8-0, 4-0 and 2-0 and have become a real force this season. They are the current joint top scores in the league with Aston Villa, and Arsenal are going to need to be in top form if they are going to get a result out of their visit to St James Park
Arsenal have started this season in seriously good form and are looking like genuine title contenders this season and there is a chance that they could end up top of the league with a win at St James Park. They finished runners up last year and have seemingly improved again this year playing some very good football all over the field. They are still unbeaten at this point, playing with complete confidence and after a 5-0 win over Sheffield United last week, they will be very hard to beat once again this weekend, particularly on the basis that they can go top with a win here. 6/4 seems a good price despite having tough opposition.
The head to head between Newcastle and Arsenal is far from competitive as Arsenal have actually won 8 of the last 10 meetings between these two sides in the premier league. The other two have ended with a draw and one victory for Newcastle, but the difference in class between these two teams has become a lot closer in recent years and the head to head is probably not the most accurate way to find your winning selection for this game.
If you take the previous head to head results into effect then Arsenal would be the team to come out on top, but with both teams very much improved this year, I think there is some really good value on offer and I am going to use the outright market for this week’s betting predictions.
This is a game I am really excited to watch and I think both teams are going to get plenty of goal scoring opportunities in this fixture, and I think it is going to be a case of who can hold on to the lead when they get it. Newcastle have played really good football from the back, all the way to the front and the key to them getting a result at home to Arsenal for me will be the midfield.
They need to try and take control of the game early if they are going to win this fixture and cannot afford to give Arsenal any easy opportunities. Arsenal themselves have been playing some very quick moving football and have been very creative up front. This game could end up being end to end and the bookies are right to have these two teams so close together in the betting. What a game we have in store.
After having a long look at the two teams credentials I have come down on a couple of betting suggestions which I think could be worth getting involved with. As mentioned both teams are much improved outfits this year and I think both teams will find the score sheet in this fixture but can one side take control of the game and take those three points? For me, I think we are going to see this fixture end in a score draw and the 11/5 to me seems a very fair bet.
Furthermore to that though, both teams have been playing some seriously good football this season and I can’t see a game where either of them aren’t getting on the score sheet and the 12/1 for a 2-2 draw seems great value to me. This is going to be a massive game for the league standings and I think both teams will cancel each other out here and share the spoils.
