The Premier League returns this weekend, with plenty of fixtures to excite fans as the international break concludes. For today’s betting tip, we’ll be focusing on the important fixture in the Premier League this weekend between Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur at St. James’ Park.
Newcastle United are looking to keep the feel good factor on Tyneside going as they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to St. James’ Park. Under new ownership, they’ll be looking to end their winless start to the season and jump out of the bottom three.
Alongside the bonus of a takeover, Newcastle will have their squad bolstered by returning players such as Jonjo Shelvey and Jamaal Lascelles. Similarly, Callum Wilson looks set to return after a spell on the sidelines.
After making an impressive start, Tottenham Hotspur’s form took a massive decline before the international break. A run of three straight defeats, including a north London derby loss to Arsenal, was snapped by a victory over Aston Villa prior to the break but the Lilywhites have slipped to eighth.
Tottenham will be happy with the fitness of their squad for the weekend. Their internationals came back unscaved but they are still without both Steven Bergwijn and Ryan Sessegnon.
These two could not be separated last campaign. Both matches ended a draw, including a 2-2- thriller at St. James’ Park in early April of this year. They played out a 1-1 draw at Tottenham Hotspur stadium earlier in the campaign after a 97th minute Callum Wilson equaliser.
Prior to their multiple draws last campaign, Spurs had bettered the toon army in five of the previous six. However St. James’ Park will have an added atmosphere this weekend due to this week's takeover news so a shock result could be on the cards.
The crowd could play a factor in this weekend’s fixture. It will be a full house at St. James’ and the players won’t want to disappoint their new employers. However, Tottenham need results and fast to keep up with the leading pack. So we’re avoiding predicting a result on this one. Instead, we’re predicting both teams to score and under 10.5 corners in the match with 888Sport at 6/4.
