Newcastle welcome Manchester City to St James Park for the late kick off on Saturday and they could really do with a big performance this week.
Newcastle have opened up as your 9/2 outsiders to win at home which seems quite short to me whilst Manchester City are 4/7 to take 3 points back to the Etihad. I have a strong suggestion for this fixture but we'll have a look at the teams before we go on to the best bets.
Newcastle started this season in really good form but they have lost 4 of their last 5 premier league games now and they are going to need to find some form out of nowhere really if they are to beat Man City this week. I did actually think they would open up a little bigger than 9/2 and wouldn’t be interested in backing them at that price. It isn’t beyond the realms of possibility that they find form this week but you would be putting a lot of trust in them doing so and would prefer a bigger price.
Manchester City haven’t been at their very best this season but they do have some key players back and they could prove very difficult to beat this weekend. They beat Sheffield United in their latest Premier League game and are now looking to make it 3 wins in a row. I think they will prove very tough to beat on Saturday.
Manchester City dominated the head to heads between these two teams winning 7 and drawing 1 of their last 8 encounters and I think there may be a similar result once again here. Newcastle are a much improved outfit in recent years so it may be a harsh judgement on them but they aren’t exactly playing the best football currently either. Newcastle have it all to do on paper.
Newcastle will really need to find a big performance to take anything out of this fixture especially with Man City returning to a near full squad. They will need to start fast but the firepower Man City have may just prove to be too strong over the course of 90 minutes.
I think after weighing up the difference between these two teams that Newcastle have it all to do this week and I find it hard to see how they get anything out of this game. They would certainly need to score first but even then this would just open up the counter attacking football from Manchester City. I am going to use the outright market to make my betting suggestion.
Newcastle are a much improved outfit over the past couple of seasons and it has been great to see them back near the top however Manchester City will be extremely hard to beat this weekend. I think over the course of the 90 minutes they simply have too much firepower for Newcastle and will ultimately come out with the win.
I had considered looking at a Manchester City win with x amount of goals but the price doesn’t get too much more attractive so even though the 4/7 may feel short. I think a Manchester City win is simply the most likely outcome here.
