Manchester United ended a run of three Premier League matches without a win with a stunning come-from-behind win over Aston Villa on Boxing Day. That victory has eased a little bit of pressure on Erik Ten Hag, but that could return with defeat at The City Ground. Forest claimed their first win since Bonfire Night with a victory over Newcastle United in manager Nuno Espirito Santo’s first game in charge.
Before their stunning win away at Newcastle, Forest had failed to win any of their previous seven Premier League matches. This culminated in Steve Cooper being sacked with former Wolves and Spurs boss Nuno getting the call. He has already lifted the spirit in the camp and he will be looking for another three points to move them further away from the drop zone. Forest are still without the suspended Willy Boly following his controversial red card against Bournemouth. Ibrahima Sangare is also suspended, while Taiwo Awoniyi is out with a groin problem.
Rasmus Hojlund scored his first Premier League goal on Boxing Day as he scored the winner in a 3-2 victory at Old Trafford. The Denmark international ended a run of 14 appearances without a league goal as he blasted home a loose ball following a Bruno Fernandes corner. That win saw United record their first victory since December 6 and saw them end a three-game goal drought. Ten Hag still has plenty of injury worries with Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial, Victor Lindelof, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Sofyan Amrabat all out.
Manchester United have won all 10 of their last 10 meetings against Nottingham Forest in all competitions. The last time Forest defeated United in any competition was back in 1994. The last time the Reds won on home soil was in March 1992 with a narrow 1-0 success. These two have already met in the Premier League this season with the Red Devils coming from 2-0 down to win 3-2 with a late penalty from Fernandes securing the points.
It is amazing what one win can do for your confidence. United looked dead and buried this season as they struggled to pick up points and score goals. Victory over Champions League-chasing Aston Villa has put the Red Devils back in the hunt for a top-four place. Check out these stats and best betting odds ahead of the game on Saturday.
Our Betting Tip for Today- Rasmus Hojlund to score & United to win - 16/5 @ Copybet
Despite their stunning away win at Newcastle United, Forest are still the underdogs to beat Manchester United at The City Ground. They can be backed at 19/10 to claim three points, while the draw is on offer at 12/5. United will be full of confidence after the way they fought back against Villa. They can be backed as the 5/4 favourites.
We have all been saying that Rasmus Hojlund just needed a goal to get his confidence soaring. He grabbed his first Premier League goal on Boxing Day in a 3-2 win, and I feel he will go on a goalscoring run now to show us all what he is capable of. He has not been getting the service he needs this season, but a cool finish through a crowded penalty area saw that drought end and I would not be surprised if we saw a completely different payer from now on.
